The food was really tasty. We can't say much negative about the flavors, but the portions were far too small.
We had a starter, main course and dessert. I can understand that in a more refined restaurant the portions are smaller, but a main course that only consists of a small piece of meat and half a piece of chicory is simply not enough.
If you, as a restaurant, give people the option to order a la carte, you as a restaurant must ensure that your portions are large enough. If you, as a passerby, just think: "I want to eat here" and you only order a main course with the idea of having a full meal, then you have come to the wrong place.
The restaurant would be better off offering some set menus without an a la carte choice. This way, as a customer, you always have enough to eat and you will not be faced with any unpleasant surprises.
The service was good. The woman who served us did her best to explain everything to us in English. That was very sweet. The wine she recommended was really tasty and paired well with the dishes.
The restaurant offers many local dishes, which is certainly an asset.

Nice food and heart behind the menu but the service was a little awkward even though we were the only people in the restaurant- the waiter was on her phone a lot and we had to beg her attention. The front of the restaurant has sliding doors and bright lights like a cheap cafe. They brought a special candle for my husband's birthday which was much appreciated. Quite expensive which would be ok if the service matched.

Restaurant with Sardinian cuisine located near the center of Cagliari.
As soon as we arrived we were served a non-alcoholic welcome drink inside a ceramic mask, accompanied by a particular finger food.
We continued with three appetizers: turnip terrine and raw ham, snails and purpuzza, casizolu from Montiferru. As first courses, we ordered two filindeu and two gravellus (both typical Sardinian pastas). For main courses, we ordered two priest's hats to share. The meal concluded with five desserts, including one (seadas) in the center. During the meal we sipped a bottle of rosé and drank some water. The bill came to €243.50.
The service during dinner was good, the food is undoubtedly of high quality, but the price is excessive compared to the quality of the place. I found the choice to charge for the "extra" basket of bread in bad taste.
Furthermore, you may feel uncomfortable because, during dinner, there were several prying glances from passers-by.
The dish that I liked most and which positively surprised me was the turnip and raw ham terrine, filindeu and seadas should also be mentioned. The latter is very close to the flavor of the seadas I ate as a child, with the acidic cheese difficult to find in Cagliari.
The place is worth a try to taste su filindeu and gravellus, two typical and little-known pastas. It is also possible to purchase the package on filindeu to be able to cook it at home.

Excellent cuisine.
Attentive service.
Unfortunate location, unfortunately: lighting needs to be significantly improved. Very messy place with no personality.
A cuisine of this level deserves and needs another type of location (especially for the level of the bill).
Won't be back.

ChiaroScuro is a Sardinian culinary masterpiece!
During my visit, I was blown away by the variety and excellence of every dish I tried. Each plate was a work of art, blending Sardinian tradition with modern creativity:
• Pane Frattau: A beautiful and flavorful start, rich and perfectly balanced.
• Quaglia (Quail): Tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection.
• Fileu: A delightful handmade pasta dish showcasing incredible textures and flavors.
• Cervello (Brain): Unique and perfectly executed, a dish that truly highlights the chef’s skill.
• Sebada: The classic Sardinian dessert, perfectly fried and paired with aromatic honey.
• Cannolo: A sweet surprise, crispy and filled with creamy goodness.
• Minestrone: Comforting and hearty, with fresh, local ingredients.
• Stecco: A fun and creative dessert to finish off an amazing meal.
The service was impeccable, with staff who were knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food. The ambiance added to the experience—a cozy yet elegant setting perfect for savoring such exquisite dishes.
ChiaroScuro is not just a restaurant but an experience, and it’s worth every moment and every bite. Highly recommended for anyone in Cagliari looking for the best of Sardinian cuisine with a twist!
Bravo to the entire team—I will absolutely be back! 👏

Restaurant worthy of two or three Michelin stars!
Very simple in appearance, if you are not warned you will not suspect anything.
We took the tasting menu (€65) and we didn't regret it.
You can of course also choose à la carte.
The suckling pig, the veal broth with Filideu...Mammamia!
Incredible value for money. Even the wines are reasonable, let yourself be guided.
A table not to be missed!
No terrace so Green Pass required.

A place to mark in your diary. Everything was perfect, from the welcome, to the sommelier's advice and to the raw materials expertly worked by chef Marina. Well done.
