13/01/2025: We all want to repeat the 2024 spring tennis camp, we had a great time! Kind, attentive staff, despite the central location, quiet rooms, and an excellent restaurant! See you in 2025, hopefully with a bigger team again!
02/10/2024: I stayed at the Casa Merano for a week in August 2024 with my family (two children, ages 11 and 12). I booked directly through the hotel website, not through a booking portal. This was based on online reviews. The reservation process itself was easy (it was possible online). The subsequent contact was very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, a few minor questions in the email exchange went unanswered. Specifically, these included the contents of half-board and full-board (I still only know the price, not the offer). On the day of arrival, we wanted to have breakfast without checking in, which was probably "overlooked" (?) or not even possible? The hotel requires two different categories of beach chairs to be reserved in advance. I still don't know the exact difference between the categories. In Germany, one would say "...whining at the highest level." Thankfully, we were able to move into the room in August before the official check-in, even though the accommodation was very busy. The receptionist, in particular, was very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was larger than expected and clean. The breakfast was very good value for money, more than sufficient, and left nothing to be desired. The location is unbeatable: no outside noise in the room, despite being right on the shopping street. On the footpath to the beach (max. 250 meters), there is a kiosk (approx. 100 meters) with "German supermarket prices." An umbrella with two beach loungers and a chair is included in the room rate, although the beach section is in the last row. Disadvantage: Anyone who wants to lie by the sea won't be able to do that. Advantage: Anyone who wants more freedom/space/peace will find this exactly right. While the sea isn't in sight, you're close to the kiosk (cup of cappuccino €2.00), the outdoor showers, and the makeshift toilets, and ultimately, the beach is only a few meters away. For families with kindergarten children, it's an extra expense (children can't dig directly by the sea, as you're far out of sight of the beach area). For me personally, it was perfect. I can highly recommend the food in the hotel's restaurant. "Simple dishes," which are my favorite (because they're cooked honestly), aren't exactly what you'd expect, but they are also there (e.g., spaghetti aglio e olio). We went there regularly for dinner during our stay. Hotel guests actually receive a 10% discount in the evenings and even a 20% discount at lunch. This effectively saves you the coperto. The restaurant was full several times in the evening. Since it has far fewer seats compared to the surrounding restaurants, the tables are borderline close together. For taller people, it can be quite cramped. The restaurant staff is very, very friendly, but because of the space constraints, around 7 p.m. (rush hour), they'll ask you several times a minute if you need anything else. This is about as intrusive as being asked to get up (of course, no one is forced to leave). Hotel parking is included in the room rate, but it is not (video) monitored. Our vehicle was damaged in the hotel's parking lot. Even though the hotel staff tried very hard to assist us in settling the damage, it was still very frustrating and time-consuming. The rooms are very spacious, but also typically very noisy inside the building. The bathroom drain should be flushed/cleaned before the new season, as it has a very strong smell when not in use.
In conclusion: I highly recommend Casa Merano for all ages. Most importantly, the staff on site is absolutely fantastic and helps wherever they can, even when things go wrong (e.g., damage to the parking lot). We felt very comfortable and would love to come back. Many warm greetings from Bavaria to Bibione to the entire Casa Merano team...
