The Pedrocchi Café in Padua is one of those classic stops that combines history, style, and unique specialties that are worth trying.
The place is truly beautiful, elegant, and has that historic feel that makes it special from the moment you walk in. We ordered their famous mint coffee, both hot and cold, and for my taste, the cold option is more refreshing and appealing. It's true that the prices are high, but the experience and the setting make up for it if you're looking for something unique and charming in the heart of Padua. It's the perfect place to treat yourself and enjoy a unique coffee in an iconic location.

Since 1831, the elegant salon of Padua: a place where history was made, culture was written, and coffee was drunk.
Caffè Pedrocchi is not just a historic bar, but a living monument. Founded by Antonio Pedrocchi and designed by Giuseppe Jappelli, it was conceived from the beginning as a meeting place for intellectuals, students, and travelers. It quickly became famous throughout Europe as "the café without doors": it remained open day and night to welcome anyone, at any time—an extraordinary gesture of modernity and inclusion for the 19th century.
The three main rooms on the ground floor (Green, Red, White) tell the story of three different souls of the café: the Green Room, free and accessible even to those who do not drink, was the refuge of students "on the penny," from which the famous Italian saying is thought to derive; the White Room still retains the bullet hole that wounded a student during the 1848 uprisings, a symbol of the place's patriotic commitment; the Red Room is the most elegant and Convivial.
On the first floor, each room is a journey: from the Moorish Room to the Egyptian Room, passing through the Greek Room and the one dedicated to Rossini. A triumph of eclectic styles that bears witness to the era in which Padua looked at the world with curious and cultured eyes.
The famous Caffè Pedrocchi (with mint cream, coffee, and cocoa) was created to refresh body and mind, perfect for students and thinkers.

I requested to reserve two tables on the terrace for my graduation on July 17, 2025. Despite a few misunderstandings, Vera, the manager, proved competent and resolved the issue quickly, finding a compromise between my requests and the management of the venue, which was particularly busy that day for several graduation events. The service was excellent and well-organized; all the guests raved about it. Special mention goes to the waiter, who served us with professionalism and expertise.

Historic café in the center of Padua, where you can try their special mint coffee, which you can drink without stirring. It's unusual, but not to my liking. The service is well-organized, and the price is fair.
Locale piu' importante a Padova con posizione centralissima.
Personale impeccabile.
Attesa media tra le portate.
Locale affascinante.
Cibo ad un prezzo adeguato nonostante la particolarita'.
Lo consiglio.
