Cafe Zanarini In Bologna

Historic place. Absolutely worth a visit. Unfortunately, this review is out of date! Today I saw obvious deterioration! Poor and sloppy service... It almost seems like it's changed management, but for the worse! Much worse!

I've been going to Zanarini's for ten years, but today something surprising happened. When I asked if the traditional panettone contained almonds, the saleswoman started talking loudly, saying that someone had even fainted in front of her because of it, and maintaining that, even though it's not indicated, almonds "are everywhere." She then walked away, leaving me with the product in hand, to discuss the matter with another colleague while laughing. When she returned to speak to another customer, I pointed out that certain information can be shared without being so aggressive. Her response was, "That's just how I am." I'd rather not comment... That said, the panettone—both traditional and chocolate—is delicious, as are the coffees. It's still a must-visit every time I return to Bologna.

The cafe is absolutely fantastic!! we had 3 types of desserts and they were all amazing + the coffee was excellent... just the service is a bit slower but otherwise everything is absolutely perfect 🥰

I was influenced by the location, the brioche was quite good... disappointing cappuccino, which arrived cold for what they charge, very expensive.

A historic and elegant place in Bologna. Wide selection of desserts and drinks. The staff is a bit disorganized, distracted, and not always friendly. It could do better, given the elegance of the location and the prices.

Beautiful and elegant place. Desserts are fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Coffee is not exceptional, and prices are on the higher side, but overall it’s a pleasant experience.

Very nice location, good pastries, and high prices. The staff is unwelcoming and rude; we were more attentive to the street vendors (six in an hour and a half). You expect much more from a historic establishment.

A very atmospheric café/restaurant in the heart of bologna. It’s perfect if you’d like to try some specialities from the region with cocktails and coffees. There are also very delicious sweets you can add to the mix. The waiters don’t really speak english but are still friendly and welcoming. However you have to wait quiet a while until they serve you and when you ask for coffee or dessert. If you don’t mind spending a bit more time with lunch or dinner it’s a great restaurant to visit.

One of Bologna's most famous cafes. It has street tables in a small square. The coffee and desserts are delicious, but the service is a complete disaster. The waiters are indifferent, and the service is incredibly slow. For example, our coffee arrived after a long wait. The coffees were finished, and just as we were about to leave, the desserts we ordered arrived with our coffee. That's how slow it is. 🙂
