Cafe Funduq In Mazara del vallo

Wise management that focuses on the essential: quality and beauty. Friendly and accommodating staff. Very fresh fish. Authentic flavors. Location perhaps a little too secluded inside the kasbah. Relaxing but cheerful atmosphere. An oasis in the summer heat.

A quiet corner of Mazara where we savored the authentic flavors of Sicily in a magical atmosphere. The owner, sincere and genuine like his dishes. A beautiful experience that we highly recommend.

While walking through Mazara you find this little square, you immediately notice the church of the Immaculate Conception, 4 or 5 tables and cushions on the stairs of the church. Background music, a relaxed environment. We got there at 11am and opted for two glasses of fresh white. Now, ordering wine in an unknown place is always a gamble, go and figure out what they give you. First clue. The wine was excellent, at the right temperature, dry and tasty as we like it. Unfortunately we were in a hurry and didn't have lunch. But we had a chat with the innkeeper who told us about Mazara without taking into account the prevailing story telling, giving us an unsweetened but authentic version that we appreciated. Second clue. The music. Adequate and true playlist, no "tunz tunz" but not even that jazz or lounge type stuff. Music. An hour of tranquility. I hope to return for dinner soon. From the clues collected so far I believe it will be an authentic experience.

Place in a splendid position, well-kept outdoor area, excellent music with friendly and nice managers. Generous portions and good food, it's a shame that some important items on the menu were missing (for organic reasons, so we were told and we report!). Funduq buses are excellent.

Scoperto per pranzo tra le proposte di TripAdvisor, è un ristorante che a prima vista sembra un bar. Bellissima la location, sulla piazza con tavolini con ceramiche colorate e piante che creano un angolino raccolto con sottofondo di musica locale. Peccato non poter aver provato il cous cous, piatto per cui siamo andati apposta dopo aver letto le recensioni, causa blocco di pesca: l'unica cosa è che avremmo preferito saperlo prima di aver già ordinato da bere, magari avremmo cambiato locale cercando proprio quella pietanza nella nostra breve sosta a Mazara. Comunque i prodotti sono di qualità e ben preparati, anche se ritengo sia caro considerando che quasi tutte le proposte sono dai 18 € in sù e le porzioni potrebbero essere più abbondanti. Esempio: nella proposta "percorso culinario siciliano", o nome simile, prevede 4 tipi di contorni tipici a base di verdura e n. 1 pz di 3 tipo di gamberi diversi in cruditè e una piccola sarda a beccafico; è un antipasto, non abbastanza da fare pasto come indicato dal cameriere che ci ha servito.
