I was in Caciaia with friends from Livorno who invited me there. The place in its simplicity is absolutely delightful. I ate excellent seafood lasagne and stuffed mussels and had the opportunity to taste the black rice (a real fairy tale!). All accompanied by a Vermentino and a red. We ended with a mascarpone and cantucci (excellent!) and obviously with a Livorno poncho. Enchanting place that I recommend to everyone and to which I hope to return soon

We had a group dinner for 24 people with a menu agreed upon for days. 30 euros for appetizer, bittico and mixed fry.
Good starter, 4 stars, 3 star bittic.
The surprise comes with the frying. 3 trays arrive for half the table and then... nothing!
They ran out of frying flour (so they said). But how?! you have a table of 20+ people, a menu agreed days before so you know exactly what you were supposed to serve and therefore buy and half the table doesn't eat?!
In total autonomy they decided to vary the menu by serving cod which arrived at least 20 minutes late when the other half had abundantly finished the fish. Among those remaining, 3 didn't even like cod.
Really poorly managed service. I and the entire half left empty-handed got up without eating the second course and left the place without even receiving an apology from the manager.
Possible management of the outage:
1) Notify in advance that the frying is finished and instead of serving half the table (12 people) make trays for everyone to "taste" at least the fried food and offer something else to compensate;
2) Notify in advance and evaluate whether someone is willing to eat something else à la carte while keeping the agreed cost unchanged (perhaps choosing from the least expensive dishes);
3) Offer a reasonable discount proportional to how much is not eaten (mathematically it is 7.5 euros) and consequently not drunk, not 5 euros which out of 30 seems like a joke to me. With a 10 euro discount you looked like a gentleman and mitigated the bad mood.
I leave 3 stars because I don't want to damage the business and give a rating just above satisfaction, but in my opinion you deserved 2 stars.

Local on the fourth detail, the owner welcomed us with a miners style lamp on his head, it was all dark, ten minutes later the room came alive, within a short time all the tables were full! Few dishes on the menu of excellent quality. This place is not on the tourist circuit, but the locals of Livorno know it very well. Optimal! 👍

Servizio molto accurato e giusto nei tempi in relazione alle varie portate.
I piatti ottimi, curati e molto freschi. Varie qualità di primi e secondi...naturalmente predomina il pesce, di varie qualità.
Non trovo alcun difetto in niente....
