Buffet Marascutti 1914 In Trieste

It's an interesting place. Friendly staff. Extremely tasty and good food. Nice atmosphere.

How nice it was to enter a warm and cozy restaurant on this cold and windy evening, where the smiling owner greeted us at the door. You had to book a table in advance because the place is not big. We ended the city break weekend with a dinner of local Trieste dishes, which have their roots in the culinary traditions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a real melting pot of nations and Central European cuisines. Start with slices of cooked ham with spicy horseradish mustard. Then Tresten jota, a thick soup based on sauerkraut, pork and beans. The main course is Wienner Schnitzel with boiled and then fried potatoes and Krajin sausage with fried sauerkraut. Plus good local wine. Everything is fresh, made from excellent local products. Chosen by trip. For the only evening in Trieste I was looking for a characteristic place with typical cuisine. The reviews were great, so I booked. The place is rustic and doesn't have many tables. I chose the 'stuffed cutlet' Very good, even the side dish of really tasty stewed potatoes. The dish was huge, I couldn't finish it. It's a dish for two. With a bottle of water total less than 30 euros I think the prices are in line. Fast service, family atmosphere.

Typical Trieste restaurant. Excellent cuisine, makes up for a slightly cramped although welcoming environment. We had to wait a bit, I suggest booking.

Every time I go to Trieste I go to eat in this delicious family-run restaurant. Excellent! Definitely try the strudel cooked in water!

La vera essenza della tradizione culinaria di Trieste. Locale molto bello e storico con un bel bancone in cui il sapiente proprietario prepara, organizza, vigila ed accoglie i suoi numerosi clienti. Tutti trattati a regola d’arte. Cibo eccellente. Abbiamo assaggiato il tradizionale prosciutto cotto, tagliato al coltello, degli gnocchi di patate e gulasch fantastici e le patate in tecia della tradizione. Atmosfera bellissima. Complimenti!
