The best croissants in Rome. Large, flaky, delicious on their own, the filled ones are exceptional, always generous and balanced in flavor. The pastries are excellent, varied, and fresh. I brought croissants, bombe, and ciambelle to work—the place isn't vegan—and it quickly became customary for me to be in charge of breakfast, because for omnivorous cafes and pastry shops closer, Piermattei's are unbeatable. Stop by if you're in the area, or even go there specifically to try a little bit of everything.
