Bollicina In Lucca

We had two types of pasta with sauce and both were delicious. We appreciate that the place was open during winter time.

Very nice location however food is average. In my opinion, this isn’t a classic Italian restaurant, but rather a place that serves Italian‑style dishes with a different culinary approach. Good to know if you’re looking for strictly traditional Italian vibes.

My three stars are intended as constructive criticism. Let's start with the positives: the restaurant's location, directly overlooking the amphitheater square, the quality and quantity of the food are average, and the waitresses are friendly. There's room for improvement: the aforementioned waitresses are unfortunately more focused on soliciting customers from passersby than serving tables. Furthermore, the bathroom door doesn't close properly: someone came in even though I had locked it. The price of €49.50 for two portions of tordelli, 1/2 liter of water, two glasses of wine, one coffee, and one tiramisu is in line with other restaurants in the area, but I think something needs to be improved to avoid being judged as just another tourist restaurant.

I discovered Lucca, a little place in a characteristic and special setting. The food is good, and the name says it all. Excellent service, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

For me 5 stars are not enough, because we ate really, really well.

We ate very well. I had pici carbonara and truffle. Truly excellent, with crispy bacon and truffle that didn't quite show through, but was noticeable. Then a two-pound steak, (not) cooked to perfection. Tender and delicious. A bottle to accompany it and off we went...! We ate well, and the service was attentive and friendly. Some bitters to help digest. Prices were definitely low for what I ate and the quality. We'll be back! I've attached a photo.
