Review for restaurant only.
Incredibly fresh fish and some delicious pasta dishes. We went three nights of our stay and it was worth it. The menu was different each night depending on what was available. Highlights included the sea urchin linguine and all of the fish. Would recommend the option of having the fish cooked in wine with potatoes. Service very friendly but slow at times.

Luckily I didn't trust the reviews that are over a year old, because the 2 sisters are friendly despite their age, the service is fast, and the fish is fresh.

An authentic jewel nestled between granite and sea, where Sardinia meets Corsica.
Imagine finding yourself in the far north of Sardinia, at Capo Testa, right across from the Strait of Bonifacio. Before you, the open sea, the Corsican coast fading into the horizon, granite rocks sculpted by wind and time into fantastic shapes, enchanting beaches accessible on foot, and paths straight out of a painting. This is the natural setting in which the Albergo Ristorante Bocche di Bonifacio stands: a simple, authentic place, without frills, yet with a beauty that lingers within you.
A Family Soul and a History You Can Breathe
Founded between the late 1950s and early 1960s by Giuseppe "Peppino" Murru (lighthouse keeper and fisherman) and his wife Caterina "Rina," this place is a rare example of pioneering fishing tourism. Today, it's still run by the family with the same passion as ever: the fish arrives directly from their boats, the shellfish live in seawater tanks until they're brought to the table. No refrigerated trucks, no middlemen. Just the sea, every day.
The atmosphere is that of a large family welcoming you into their home: sincere smiles, tables set with care but without excess, a slow, human pace that makes you feel immediately at ease.
The Restaurant: When the Sea Comes to the Plate.
The dining room, with its large windows overlooking the blue Strait of Messina, is the perfect place to be captivated. The menu changes daily based on the catch: there's no fixed menu, just what the sea has provided that morning.
Generous portions, clean and sincere preparations. Deep-tasting spaghetti with squid ink, fragrant fish soups, lightly seared grilled lobster and crawfish, red mullet, sea bream, snapper... everything arrives on the table with the intense, sweet flavor of the freshest fish. The carasau bread, the good olive oil, the house wine: nothing superfluous, everything essential and perfect.
P.S. If you ask the waiter for a "structural" change to your dish, they'll make it for you.
With kindness and a smile, the staff accommodates everyone and everything (if possible, of course):
- Want the largest portion? Done.
- Prefer just the calamari rings (without the body or legs)? They'll bring them to you that way.
- Would you like the lobster or the fish already shelled and completely deboned, ready to enjoy with ease? Just say so: the kitchen prepares it to order.
It's not written anywhere, it's not an "official" service, it's simply the genuine helpfulness of a family that wants to make you feel good. A small, great luxury that transforms an excellent dinner into a bespoke experience, as if you were a long-time guest.
Final Verdict
The Albergo Ristorante Bocche di Bonifacio is not a Michelin-starred restaurant with dim lighting and magazine-worthy table settings. It is something much rarer and more precious: a place where nature is the protagonist, the fish is the freshest, and the people treat you like family.
If you're looking for authenticity, breathtaking views, top-quality seafood, and unpretentious hospitality, this is your place.
Highly recommended. And when you return, feel free to ask for a change... they understand immediately.
I will be back. And I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the real Sardinia.

We were advised to call ahead and reserve whatever fish they had caught, along with table wine and potatoes. And it was this magnificent barracuda for the two of us. Delicious, friendly service, and a dining room that feels like grandma's! Complete with armchairs.
It's definitely worth stopping by if you're on a fishing trip looking for some good wild-caught fish.

We were guests at the Bocche di Bonifacio Hotel/Restaurant for the first time, and for a year.
The rooms are basic, but they are comfortable, welcoming, and above all very clean. The restaurant is excellent. The freshest fish dishes are impeccably cooked by the chef. The quality is excellent, and the portions are truly generous. We took advantage of the half-board option, which we highly recommend.

In an era when many places on the Sardinian coast have conformed to a polished and predictable tourist aesthetic, Bocche di Bonifacio represents a rare example of tenacious authenticity. Located in the far north of Sardinia, on the picturesque Capo Testa peninsula, this family-run hotel and restaurant looks directly out onto the Strait of Bonifacio, the strait separating Sardinia from Corsica, in constant dialogue with the sea.
The atmosphere: a dive into time
The ambiance is deliberately retro, almost museum-like in its marine element: Roman anchors, ancient amphorae, shark jaws, and vintage photographs of giant tuna tell a sea story experienced firsthand, not purchased for decoration. You won't find minimalist design or trendy furnishings, but a sincere patina of decades of family business. It's a place that doesn't pretend to be something it isn't: simple, a little dated, yet endowed with a genuine and disarming charm.
The Cuisine: Fish that Still Tastes of the Sea
Here, the supply chain is extremely short, almost nonexistent. The catch comes directly from the boats of the family's children, heirs of Peppino Murru (lighthouse keeper) and Signora Rina, pioneers of fish tourism before it became a trend. The shellfish still swim in the seawater tanks until moments before ending up on your plate.
The dishes are classics of the Gallura and seafood tradition, executed with respect and mastery: spaghetti with squid ink, ultra-fresh seafood appetizers, grilled fish that enhance the natural flavor without unnecessary frills. It's not Michelin-starred cuisine, but it is genuine cuisine, generous and deeply rooted in the local area. The quality-price ratio is excellent, especially considering the absolute freshness of the ingredients.
The Stay
The rooms are basic and functional, clean, with the freshness typical of attentive family-run establishments. Don't expect a wellness center or luxurious suites: you come here to sleep with the sound of the sea, wake up to the light of Capo Testa, and experience the most authentic Sardinia.
Verdict
Bocche di Bonifacio is not for those seeking the sterile comfort of a five-star resort. Instead, it's the ideal place for those seeking a genuine experience, where the sea isn't just a backdrop but a daily part of life. A place to treasure, especially in an age where authenticity is becoming a rare commodity.

We booked a table for 11 with our friends. What can I say? It was an amazing dinner. Fish caught that day, exceptional fried fish, and truly abundant and tasty seafood spaghetti. Compliments to Ulisse and all the staff for their professionalism. Highly recommended.
