09/04/2026: The pastrami is 10/10 and the coffee or hot chocolate is very delicious.
09/04/2026: A lively café, one of those small but reassuring ones. A few tables outside directly on the street, a couple of seats inside, stools under a shelf/counter, and the games are on. This is a "special café," judging by the awning at the entrance, and yes, you can trust it, it truly is a special café. A genuine meeting place, one of those where you call a spade a spade and wine a wine. And what bread! People come here specifically to eat their white pizza sandwiches filled with a wide variety of ingredients, one of which? Pastrami. They say it's the best in history. After all, it's the Roscioli bakery, which knows a thing or two about history, that supplies the prized white focaccia. A true guarantee of quality.
The aromas and the look of the pizza, the sandwiches, the famous pastrami, and so on, are enough to cement the desire to stay. And after leaving full and satisfied, even the desire to return.
We're in one of those lively bars, bustling with things, with offerings, with people, both tourists and locals, with quick stops and regular appointments for those who woe betide anyone who leaves a place like this. The kind with the bar as long as the entire place. With the drinks fridge in the middle of the aisle. With archive photos (long live Carrà!). The kind with framed badges, with colorful signs that dominate, shouting clear messages about food and other specials.
It's one of those places where the luxury of history rests on your shoulders and presses on your stomach. Where everything communicates and, indeed, speaks, lives.
Well, the staff is the one who speaks the least while remaining aligned with everything else. That is, a simple attitude, a straight look from those who know what they do and how they do it, quick work, no excess of smiles with unfailing irony, charm, and kindness.
The coffee is well made, and it's a good one, which is quite unusual for the area and even outside. They certainly make a lot of it, and that certainly helps. Like everything else.
The prices at the counter are reasonable, but check the table service prices.
To put it simply: a historic bar with a quaint atmosphere, in a strategic location. Very popular despite its small space, it offers excellent products and fair prices. Special feature: the pastrami.
In addition to the usual: freshly squeezed juices.
Special mention: the smell of leavened pastries at lunchtime.
