We went to this restaurant for lunch after visiting Palazzo Farnese. They have a huge selection of wines; we ordered a glass, which the owner recommended very professionally, and we thoroughly enjoyed. As soon as we sat down, they brought us some delicious bruschetta with olive oil. We ordered the pici alla gricia, which were delicious, but what really won us over was the hazelnut mousse—a masterpiece! My boyfriend said it was the best thing he'd eaten in the last two years. Highly recommended!

After visiting the magnificent Palazzo Farnese, we strolled with friends through the streets of Caprarola's historic center, searching for a restaurant that would allow us to savor the true specialties of Tuscia. Thus, almost by chance, we stumbled upon Vineria Vignola, overlooking the square of the same name: a fortunate encounter that made this Sunday truly unforgettable.
Thanks to the splendid sunny day, we chose to dine outside despite the rather cool temperature. The owner kindly promptly turned on a heater, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere right from the start. A simple yet significant gesture, it speaks volumes about the attentiveness to the customer.
The service, from the first few minutes, impressed us with its speed, quality, and professionalism. The menu, while not extensive—and this is a plus—is rich in authentic local dishes. The owner, with great skill and passion, took our order, expertly recommending both the best dishes and a perfect local wine to accompany the meal.
We began with an extraordinary Tuscia platter: impeccable cured meats, including an excellent coppa di testa, a tasty liver sausage, larded loin, artisanal mortadella, aged prosciutto, and sheep's culatello. Completing the meal was a truly remarkable selection of cheeses: aged pecorino, pecorino alle marc, and a uniquely flavorful goat's blue cheese. A triumph of authenticity that truly deserves applause.
Next, the cured meat with sagnino and Caprarola EVO oil: a memorable dish, perfectly balanced in flavor and presentation. The tender and flavorful meat won us over from the first bite. It was all enhanced by the Seiano Rosso, a local wine recommended by the host, which proved to be an impeccable choice.
For the first courses, we wanted to try a little bit of everything, and every dish was a surprise:
• Venison-filled tortelli with cavolo nero pesto, hazelnuts, and a red fruit reduction, with roasted leek: a masterpiece. The balanced filling, elegant sauce, and complex flavors truly left us speechless.
• Pici alla gricia: intense flavor, pure tradition, and a perfect creaminess.
• Soup of the day with vegetables, egg, and crostini: simple, authentic, and extraordinarily delicious.
For the second courses, we chose a sample of jugged lamb: aromatic, rich in flavor, and expertly cooked. A dish that truly captures the soul of the local cuisine.
The quality of EVERYTHING we tasted was superb: cured meats, first courses, second courses... each course was a discovery and an explosion of authentic Tuscia flavors.
We concluded our lunch with an excellent coffee and were very satisfied, thanks in part to a very fair bill, especially considering the quality offered.
A special thanks goes to all the staff at Vineria Vignola and the owner, impeccable in every way.
You welcomed us warmly, provided expert advice, and delighted us with authentic, carefully prepared cuisine rich in tradition.
We set off again for the Viterbo Christmas markets with hearts (and stomachs!) full of gratitude.
