An absolute hidden gem! The food was outstanding – everything fresh, prepared with love, and a true culinary highlight. We especially loved the handwritten menu, which is regularly updated to reflect the seasons. The owner was incredibly kind and attentive – just the right mix of warm and unobtrusive. What a stroke of luck! We stumbled upon "Il Malombra" quite by chance – a beautifully situated restaurant high above Lake Lugano, with stunning views of the mountains and a special, warm atmosphere. We were there as a family – my wife, our 6-year-old daughter (currently a very picky eater), and our 8-month-old baby. Upon arrival, we received an incredibly friendly welcome; everything seemed relaxed, personal, and genuine. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, cozy, and unpretentious – simply authentic and run with love. The food was simply fantastic: I had a venison ragout with tagliatelle, my wife had homemade chestnut ravioli with pumpkin cream and local truffle – both dishes were absolutely delicious. Our daughter initially only wanted spaghetti on its own, but then tried my ragout – and liked it so much that she immediately got her own portion and devoured it all. That says it all! Absolutely great value for money, absolutely outstanding quality. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day—right before our departure. So if you're in the Valsolda area, go and enjoy!

We ate at Mario's twice during our five days on Lake Lugano, and both times it was simply fantastic: delicious, authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Thank you for your hospitality, Mario. We'll be back!
