10/08/2026: We have been regulars at this (renovated) restaurant for a long time. The food is truly delicious. Everything is as it should be.
But… the last time we were there, we noticed that the quality of the service, the attentiveness, had declined. For example, when we asked for oil and a pepper mill, the (new) waiter said that everything was already on other tables and that there was no oil left available. This is not the service we are used to. So that was a shame.
The main course arrived just as we had finished the starter and the starter plates had not yet been cleared away. I may have reacted a little too indignantly, but that was because I am not at all used to this from this restaurant.
Incidentally, the other waiter immediately apologized for this, so that is really very good. However, these are actions that need to be closely monitored.
Furthermore, a very critical point: the toilet is really not clean!!
And we had to search for new toilet paper ourselves, which we eventually found in a cupboard.
In short: this restaurant—with the best location in the town—must remain self-critical and stay alert to quality! It would be a real, real shame if a good restaurant like this were to succumb to declining service, customer friendliness, and perfection.
We will be back, so you haven't lost us. You are unique, so PLEASE keep that (in a positive way)!! Cortona deserves that.
10/06/2026: In Piazza Signorelli, across from Palazzo Casali, home to the MAEC (Museo Accademia Etrusca a Cortona), there's a cozy place with tables overlooking the square. We stopped for a quick aperitivo at Cortonesi Cucina & Vino, then decided to stay longer for lunch, given the beautiful, sunny day. We had a light seafood lunch with grilled salmon and the inevitable white wine from the carafe. Our neighbors were served delicious seafood pasta dishes; we were amazed, but we didn't want to overeat. The staff was friendly and quick. It was an unbeatable experience, further enhanced by a light breeze.
