Breakfast before leaving is recommended if you're a melancholic. The cannoli was truly spectacular: the perfectly crispy wafer and the incredibly fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced ricotta. But the bombolone, almost as huge as a hamburger, had a soft, light dough that served as a perfect showcase for an extraordinary filling. The cream was literally pure pistachio: dense, compact, so rich it barely moved, yet incredibly soft on the palate. Each bite was full, generous, almost overwhelming in quantity, but for that very reason, irresistible. And don't even get me started on the sfincione...food of the gods!
