Interesting place: we had breakfast with good brioches and at standard prices for being in a semi-central area of Milan. Nice decor even if probably dated, but it is worth looking at without any problems. You can also have lunch and in the evening have an aperitif

I have been here during ~ 2002, used to have caffe and some light eats on the way back from work ( changing from metro to tram 24 for via Ripamonti) . I had added this place to my bucket list since it's speciality used to be wild boar ( cinghiale) though I never had it then. There used to be a stuffed wild-boar-head above the counter 🤩. Looks like the menu has changed since, and can't seem to see any mention of wild boar in the recent reviews 😕.

Fun place with unique decor. Their sandwiches are excellent, which they are famous for. Try the salmon sandwich for after the theater, with a good beer or an excellent wine. Excellent and courteous service, everyone is a true professional!

I took a take away sandwich, they make them on the spot, delicious, 9 euros well spent, quality.
Espresso Bar, famous for its panini, a fast food sandwich that originated and developed in northern Italy. I believe it was the first panini store to open in Milan in 1964.
Unlike traditional Italian food, panini gained popularity due to its practicality, and spread mainly in Milan, where people live a busy lifestyle. Now, it is enjoyed not only in Italy but also around the world.
Since its history and origin are deeply connected to Milan, it can be considered a food that represents Milan, and this espresso bar is a little-known mecca for panini. I visited for breakfast on my second day in Milan.
The atmosphere is sophisticated and feels old, and it sells not only coffee but also cocktails and alcohol. There were countless bottles of distilled liquor on display, so I felt like I came to have a drink in broad daylight.
I remember there was no menu, but since I usually drink cappuccino in the morning in Italy anyway, I ordered it with panini. The price was 1.7 euros for a cappuccino and 6 euros for a panini.
First of all, the cappuccino was honestly better than what I tasted at one of the three major cafes in Rome. The original espresso taste was strong, and the steamed foam was moderately soft and not too heavy.
The panini that came out right away was a few slices of ham and cheese between two slices of toasted bread, pressed on the grill. The bread was slightly blackened and very crispy, and the ham and cheese were half melted.
When I took a bite, I heard a crunching sound and the cheese stretched out, and then the ham was chewed, and the salty, rich, and moist flavors burst out one after another. It had everything it needed, and it was a simple but delicious panini.
Even though 6 euros is a bit expensive, it is symbolic and the coffee price is cheap, so I was satisfied with it. Since it is open until 2 am, it would be nice to come at night and enjoy a cocktail.
