We've been eating at Volante for a while now, and what can I say? The food is great, and the staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to find a way for us to eat, even without a reservation. Our favorite table is 104... In fact, when we show up without a reservation, you can hear them say, "The people from 104 have arrived."

Great welcome, fast service... We usually do the pizza tour, highly recommended. This evening I had a vegetarian pizza, and in addition to eggplant, peppers, and zucchini (these are usually the ingredients), it also had broccoli, asparagus, onion, and cherry tomatoes... a real treat. Recommended place.

21/09/2025: Great food and family atmosphere
20/09/2025: Hidden away in the tiny hamlet of Stropino. The restaurant's unusual name derives from local umbrella makers' slang, apparently. The quirkiness doesn't stop there. No written menu, Basil Fawlty-type "welcome." We were the only non-locals there, and glances from the regulars were initially suspicious, hostile even. We hadn't booked and had to wait on the naughty step. But if you can get past all that - and try to speak some Italian - then this is an authentic and very enjoyable dining experience: excellent value, good-quality wine by the carafe, everything home-made and local. And everyone was friendly by the time we left! Light years away from the tourist traps on the Borromean islands.
