Bar Mengoli In Bologna

A couple from another era. I'd say a dive into a time period I enjoy.

I discovered this café by chance, as I was in the area for blood tests. I was truly amazed by the hospitality and kindness of the husband and wife team who run this place; the deliciousness and quality of the baked goods; and the homey atmosphere. In a world now dominated by gourmet pastry shops and exorbitantly priced specialty coffee shops, I will always choose Bar Mengoli.

I loved it—excellent coffee and pastries, but most importantly, the people were kind and helpful. Authentic Bologna!

It was wonderful to enter this place, preserved by time and by the virtue of its owners, a tenacious, kind, and welcoming couple. Their vitality and savoir-faire are already history in Bologna, a proverbially welcoming city. How inviting were the morning croissants and pastries! How inviting was the food prepared for a frugal lunch! Freshness and quality can be felt in the air in that bar, and the coffee was delicious. Amid the greenery of the tree-lined avenue, it was lovely to enter and enjoy the smiles of the gentleman and lady. I don't know their names, but they are truly very professional and attentive.
