19/07/2026: A mixed experience: excellent service, but the food wasn't entirely convincing.
We visited this restaurant in Borca di Cadore for a couples lunch. The overall rating is unfortunately a bit lukewarm, divided between the impeccable service and the food, which, in my opinion, showed several shortcomings, although my wife was more accommodating and enjoyed the experience more.
The dishes:
First course: We tried the ravioli filled with potatoes and porcini mushrooms. They looked inviting, but on the palate they were decidedly flat and lacking in flavor. They lacked the bold character one expects from a porcini-based dish.
Second course: A dish of melted cheese, sausage, polenta, and mushrooms. The polenta was a plus, well-made, but the rest of the dish wasn't convincing. The mushrooms were decidedly too salty, and the sausage, in my opinion, didn't seem to be of the highest quality. Overall, a dish skewed toward savory flavors.
Dessert: We finished with a beautifully presented apple strudel served with whipped cream.
Service and Price:
The real highlight of the day was the staff: the service was extremely attentive, courteous, and welcoming, something we greatly appreciated and which demonstrates the care they give to their customers. A sore point, however, was the bill: the food prices seemed slightly excessive for the size of the portions served, a detail I've unfortunately often found in other reviews.
In short, a place with potential for excellent hospitality, but which, in my opinion, needs to rethink the balance of flavors and the quality/quantity/price ratio of the dishes.
21/05/2026: Excellent food and ingredients. The portions were small for the price, and the workers' menu was only offered to locals, which I didn't think was fair.
