As an American living in France, I was thrilled to find somewhere that actually knows how to use a smoker! BarBees was a dream. The menu was amazing. We tried the mixed platter, the brisket, and the homemade hazelnut ice cream. It was the most beautiful marriage of American and Italian styles. You won’t regret it. Go.

I love slow cooking great BBQ and finding outstanding BBQ joints across the USA. But a great BBQ joint in Italy's Piedmont? Absolutely! They do not do sauce, and you don't need it. We tried everything they make and it was all good. Barbees could compete with most BBQ joints in the US and honestly, the sides are even better.

02/09/2025: We used a voucher for one night but ended up staying four. The inn's strength is the friendliness of the owners, two hard workers with a great deal of creativity in organizing. The cuisine is excellent, light, and always varied. Comfortable rooms with a stunning view of the valley. There's a lovely wellness area and play area. We really hope to return. The Maira Valley is a gem.

Ape Wine Bar

23/11/2025: We booked dinner at Ape Vino e Cucina during the Alba White Truffle Fair and were thrilled. The location, in the heart of Alba, is refined and welcoming; the ambience is elegant, and the service impeccable in its attentiveness and courtesy. The welcome from the kitchen and the desserts offered at the end of the meal were both very welcome—small details that truly make a difference. All the dishes we ordered lived up to our expectations: quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. The bill was fair and consistent with the level of service and the overall experience. We highly recommend this place and will gladly return.
