17/01/2025: All excellent, very friendly staff
03/01/2025: We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel on a half board basis and, unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations.
Cleaning
The facility is dated, but overall clean. However, we noticed a certain superficiality in the daily cleaning. The curtains, for example, had accumulated about three inches of dust, a detail that should not be overlooked. The bathrooms, thankfully, were clean, but the dusting in the rooms was done in a sloppy manner, as was the case with the back of the TV, where it appeared to have never been touched.
Food
The food was overall acceptable, but unfortunately always served cold. The second courses were definitely better than the first courses, which were often unappetizing. Dinner is held in the restaurant a few steps away, also owned by the owners, and here we met a waiter of Salerno origins who was truly very helpful and friendly. However, the service overall proved to be confusing and messy. A particular episode occurred on New Year's Eve: after going out to see the fireworks, we returned and, after just 5 minutes, the young waiter had already cleared everything away, even taking away the dishes we had left at the table. He looked like he was in a real hurry to finish his shift. The breakfast, however, was good, with an excellent choice of products, including some gluten-free ones.
Personal
The staff did not give us a very welcoming feeling. When we asked for advice on what to do in the surrounding area, the owner was not very helpful, almost annoyed. Furthermore, it was not even clearly explained why, after 7pm, there was no accessible common area: we felt treated as if it were a trivial matter.
In general it is more similar to a guest house than a real hotel. The general impression is that they were doing us a favor.
A positive point, however, came from the owner of the restaurant, a young and tall boy, who was really attentive to our requests. When he pointed out to us that a wine we wanted was not available, he made sure to go and buy it and served it to us without any hesitation. Furthermore, upon our observation of the cotechino and lentils served freezing at midnight, he sincerely apologized and promptly warmed it up... just a little but the gesture is appreciable.
Services
One positive is that they are very welcoming to animals, but the dog area leaves a lot to be desired. It looked abandoned and uncared for. Furthermore, there is no real tea room: what should be is actually one with the reception and the breakfast room/bar.
In conclusion, the experience was on average negative. The property has potential, but there are too many aspects to improve to be able to recommend it to those looking for a truly welcoming and well-managed accommodation.
