At over 1,300 meters above sea level, in a bright clearing overlooked by a family of buzzards, you'll find the magnificent Baita dei Faggi. It's located within an old production site that, since 1910, employed many workers cutting the precious beech wood needed to make railway sleepers and gunstocks. In this corner of authentic Calabria where you can reach the stars, Massimo and Silvia tenaciously host travelers with a warm welcome, demonstrating great expertise in their work and a love for the local produce (Pollino truffles, porcini mushrooms, Saracena olive oil). The food was all delicious and presented like a Michelin-starred restaurant. The desserts deserve a special mention, as they were top-notch. The service could be improved (the staff were a bit stiff), but I'd still give this place 5 stars, considering how young it is. Congratulations!

Silvia and Massimo welcomed us with great kindness and treated us to delicious dishes. The fettuccine with porcini mushrooms and truffles was truly excellent, and the beef tartare with truffles and burrata was breathtaking. All this in a completely sustainable environment, with self-generated energy and water straight from the source (and delicious). From now on, it will be a must-visit every time we return to Pollino.

We stopped by for lunch after a nice walk. What a delightful discovery!! The food is truly excellent and beautifully presented, and the prices are super fair. And the real highlight are the lounge chairs outside where you can relax while waiting for your food to be ready.
The owners are incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful, and chatting with them was a great opportunity to get to know the area in depth.

A refuge that feels like a Michelin-starred restaurant. We had a meat tartare with local summer truffle and burrata, which was simply exquisite, and some delicious fresh handmade fettuccine with truffle. The owners are very friendly and happy to welcome hikers. The bread is also excellent. An incredible surprise!
