We discovered this place by chance, but it's definitely worth a visit.
The daily fixed menu cost €25.00 and offered simple yet beautifully executed dishes: a cured meats and cheese appetizer, cavatelli with creamed fava beans and pancetta, and sausage with potatoes.
Quick service, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly, professional staff.
An excellent experience, highly recommended.
The only complaint, which keeps me from giving it 5 stars but rather 4, concerns the extra costs: the €3.00 cover charge was a bit high, and the house wine, at €7.00 a glass, was a surprise, especially since it wasn't announced in advance. At that price, it would have been better to choose a full bottle of a higher quality.

Amazing fava beans and chicory! Creamy fava bean puree made with local fava beans. The local caciocavallo and pecorino cheeses are very good. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable; they know what's in the dish and how the kitchen works. I have tons of allergies, some unusual, but they were very attentive and made sure my food didn't contain any traces of my allergies. I really liked the place, with its soft lighting and nice decor. The bathroom was clean. When I return to Matera, I'll definitely eat here again.

This restaurant, carved into the rock, offers a charming atmosphere: there's not much seating, the tables are elegantly set in their simplicity, and the service is fast and high-quality! The dishes, delicious and plentiful, are beautifully presented and a pleasure to eat! They also offer a tourist menu, in our case consisting of an appetizer, first course, and second course at a reasonable price (€25 + €3 cover charge/person plus drinks).
Reservations recommended.

This restaurant serves traditional Materan and Italian cuisine, including fresh pasta, bread, platters, crostini, meat, fish, and the dish from which it takes its name: fave e cicoria (broad beans and chicory).
There is plenty of seating inside and additional seating on the outdoor terrace to the side.
A cover charge and a 1-liter plastic bottle of water are €3 each.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely dinner here. First of all our server, Hamdi (sp?) was delightful - he was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The ambiance was just right: we liked that the lighting wasn’t overly bright and the music was pleasant without being too loud. We both thought the food was some of the best we’ve had in the area. Everything came out at the perfect pace, was piping hot, and seasoned nicely (not too salty as are many of the restaurant meals we’ve had). The wait staff and kitchen took good care of my need for gluten free pasta and other dishes. Overall, we had a wonderful experience & feel it was one of the best values around!

Great restaurant with excellent service and location. I tried the Crapiata Materana, a traditional dish from the region, and it was outstanding. Highly recommended!
