Small but interesting place to dine on typical local products and traditional Lucanian products. The service of the staff is excellent and to say passionate is an understatement, as the descriptions of the dishes made by the fantastic Hichame who followed in his father's footsteps as a child in the pizzeria kitchen becoming more and more passionate about the world of catering... and there were others like him.

Simple regional dishes are the essence of the menu. Don't look for gourmet dishes, but rather classics of local cuisine. Service OK. Prices a little too expensive.

I ate really well, the service is impeccable and the staff is very kind. I give 4 stars overall only for the slightly high prices, still recommended.

Great service. Waiters spoke English and French also. Was a little more expensive than I was expecting but the veal cheeks were excellent.

Reading the many negative reviews we were very skeptical. Considering it currently has new management, our experience was very good. This Osteria, located in the historic center, compensates for the lack of a view of the Sassi with a small but welcoming environment. The very nice waiter, Hichame "he who belongs to the sun", was extremely professional, attentive and always present. He recommended excellent combinations and traditional dishes that proved to be of excellent quality. Considering the location, average prices. Advised!

We entered in the dark without seeing reviews or anything else but just trusting our instincts, what can I say, we ate in a sumptuous manner with refined and refined dishes, the staff were really friendly and welcoming, definitely worth returning and recommending. The cost is commensurate with the care of the Packaging of dishes. Well done!!!

05/09/2024: Oven dating back to 1952 is the oldest in Matera. Its products are typical of the area with recipes from the past, genuine and natural.
27/08/2024: Bread like it used to be, cooked in a wood fire. The baker and his wife are always friendly and the bread is truly exceptional.

Ristorante San Pietro Barisano

01/01/2025: It is located in the stones a few minutes walk from the entrance to the restricted traffic zone. Finding parking nearby is almost impossible so I recommend the multi-storey one in Via Saragat for 5 euros a day, and you can easily take the shuttle. The room is beautiful, very particular. Obviously it does not have a window as it is carved into the rock. The only two flaws were the comfort of the bed because the mattress wasn't the best and I don't know why but the slats were wider than the mattress and you hit your shins on them. And then the shower/tub which was positioned in a strange way as an access, in front of the bidet which you basically had to climb over. Wasn't it easier to put a shower tray??? 😅😅
04/12/2024: Beautiful place inside the Sasso Barisano in the San Biagio district with breathtaking landscapes where you can start the tourist tour of the Sassi 100m from the center where there are restaurants and taverns And finally, thanks to the owners Exquisite and very kind people A place to recommend
