Antico Caffè Santamaria In Roma

Contrary to the negative comments I read on the page, I find the place to be well located, the service very good and what I ordered was delicious.

Average breakfast, but... Not enough staff. One person at the register does everything, from serving tables to taking orders, thus neglecting the cashier's service. Behind the counter, an elderly gentleman tries his best. There's a shortage of waiting staff and bar staff!! The result is poor service and long waits! Is this how you work in a place in the center of Rome? Mediocre.

We wandered in by chance, not realizing that the bar is in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore. I don't remember seeing the prices at the counter, but I wouldn't have imagined spending €5 for a latte, €4 for a coffee, or €9 for two croissants. €18 for a breakfast that near my house would cost me €5 at most.

Excellent pastry shop. Great atmosphere and a privileged view of the Basilica.

Perfect tiramisu, rum baba. Good cappuccino. Definitely come again. But very expensive food. Come here for the desserts!

Better than their neighbors in Molino, here they will serve you with pleasure, the "horns" are very good and the coffee excellent.

Nuestras dos parejas tenían cada uno un sándwich de Focaccia Salami, eran 6 €. 50 cada uno y bastante grande. El lugar parecía tener muchas reglas. Tratamos de pedir en el mostrador y nos dijeron que nos sentáramos fuera en las mesas y hacer su pedido. Tardamos un tiempo en esperar solo para descubrir que teníamos que sentarnos en las otras mesas con sillas de plástico si solo estábamos recibiendo sándwiches. El servidor era muy agradable y ayudó a mover mesas para que pudiéramos sentarnos juntos. Por estos asientos nos cobraron 3€ cada uno. Las bebidas, el agua y una Coca-Cola eran de 4 €. 50 cada uno. Pedí hielo y tenemos unos 5 cubitos de hielo cada uno. Nuestro amigo tenía una Cesar Insalata por 15€ y dijo que era muy bueno. Añada el impuesto del IVA y nuestro almuerzo llegó a 60 €.
