Antica Trattoria San Giovanni In Piana degli albanesi

The atmosphere is simple and tidy. The lady who took our order was welcoming and open to conversation, as was the gentleman who served us, which is always a plus. We were also pleased with the food, both the caponata and calamata with eggplant, the truly spectacular Palermitan-style bone-in steak, and finally the cannoli, a must-try in Piana. Highly recommended.

"A hidden gem! We stopped here on our way to Palermo and it was a truly 5-star experience. We ordered the Tagliatelle alla Campagnola and the Agnello alla Brace (roasted lamb), everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The local bread and house red wine were also fantastic. We finished with a cannoli, which was a must. We were served by the owners (a very friendly couple) and, as we were the only customers, the service was excellent and the atmosphere very peaceful. Highly recommended if you're passing through Piana degli Albanesi!"

Not a great experience. Cold and poorly prepared dishes. Little attention to local cuisine. The cannoli were excellent.

Antica Trattoria San Giovanni was a perfect choice for lunch between my wife and I, after a long carefree day at Lake Piana degli Albanesi, we ate an appetizer of local cold cuts and cheeses with the addition of honey, excellent quality food and abundant accompanied by delicious local re-milled bread, after which we chose a first course of excellent workmanship, my wife had a risotto with pesto, burrata, cherry tomatoes, shrimp, very tasty and abundant, instead I had a plate of linguine sciuè sciuè seasoned with capers, dried tomatoes, pistachio and breadcrumbs, oil, also very tasty and abundant, with two glasses of red wine, finally we chose a dessert with chantilly cream and croccantini as a side, very delicate and light flavor. This is what we really appreciated about Trattoria San Giovanni: the professional and courteous service, our opinions were kindly asked every time, even by the chef. It's a wonderful place that my wife and I carefully chose because it's family-run, and we were therefore thrilled and happy with our choice. The atmosphere is quiet and clean, comfortable and welcoming. We're sure we'll return to try some other dishes, or a main course we didn't choose but will try again next time.
