Antica Trattoria Con Calma In Torino

In a hidden corner of Turin, there is this simple but truly excellent trattoria. Cuisine, service and location that make you want to return.

We went with friends for dinner on New Year's Eve. Very nice place, very honest cost compared to what we ate, impeccable service, excellent food and careful organization. At the end of the dinner there were no taxis to be found, the owner and all the staff did their utmost to help us, therefore truly kind-hearted people.

Beautiful trattoria, very simple and elegant. Delicious traditional Piedmontese dishes. Exquisite staff, very courteous and delicate people. I loved the warm atmosphere, the tranquility and the silence even though it was full of people.

Position yourself in the least suggestive room. New Year's menu with slightly risky and not always successful combinations (see cotechino parcel with glazed chestnuts). Excellent starters. Courteous and quick serving staff.

We choose this restaurant carefully because on Christmas Eve, despite the upcoming holiday, you can choose the à la carte menu. The first impact is negative because we are made to sit in a very crowded room, at a skimpy table near the bar counter. Dinner begins with an oversight: we are not served the amuse bouche and we start immediately with the appetizer. We can't fit all the plates and bottles on the table, so much so that we have to remove the decorations The "problem" then arises with the subsequent courses: a good hour waiting for the suite of dishes. Despite reminders we wait a long time, too long! And, despite the wait, a plate of agnolotti arrives cold and the rabaton lukewarm and hard because, probably, too full of flour. The quality of the dishes varies: the grissinipoli is very good, as is the tartrà, but the mixed starter can be improved, the others are fair. Having to draw some conclusions, I would say that, apart from the fact that we were not charged perhaps because we expressed our negative opinion and the cold agnolotti, our dinner had some peaks of excellence (grissinopoli and tartrà), and others a little less. There remains the discomfort of settling at a table that was perhaps adequate for six but absolutely small for eight, which is the reason why we never returned to "Con Calma" for years. I would also like to point out the cost of the cover charge: €3.00 per person which is decidedly high for the mise en place. I think we will return in the hope of having better accommodation and a less crowded evening which will allow for a more fluid and attentive service

Scegliamo con cura questo ristorante perché alla vigilia di Natale, nonostante l’imminente festività, si può scegliere il menù à la carte. Il primo impatto è negativo perché veniamo fatti accomodare in una sala affollatissima, ad un tavolino striminzito vicino al banco del bar. La cena inizia con una dimenticanza: a noi non viene servito l’amuse bouche e si parte subito con l’antipasto. Sul tavolo non riusciamo a far stare tutti i piatti e le bottiglie, tant’è che dobbiamo rimuovere le decorazioni Il “problema” nasce poi con le portate successive: un’ora buona ad aspettare la suite dei piatti. Nonostante i solleciti aspettiamo un tempo lungo, troppo lungo! E, nonostante l’attesa, un piatto di agnolotti arriva freddo ed i rabaton tiepidi e duri perché, probabilmente, troppo carichi di farina. La qualità dei piatti è altalenante: molto buona la grissinipoli, come la tartrà, l’antipasto misto invece migliorabile, gli altri discreti. Dovendo tirare le fila, direi che, Rabaton a parte che non ci sono stati addebitati forse perché abbiamo palesato il nostro parere negativo e gli agnolotti freddi, la nostra cena ha avuto dei picchi dí eccellenza (grissinopoli e tartrà), ed altri un po’ meno. Resta il disagio per la sistemazione in un tavolo che forse era adeguato per sei ma assolutamente piccolo per otto, che poi è il motivo per il quale per anni non siamo più tornati al “Con Calma”. Segnalo anche il costo del coperto : € 3,00 per persona che è decisamente elevato per la mise en place. Credo che torneremo nella speranza di avere una migliore sistemazione ed una serata meno affollata che possa permettere un servizio più fluido ed attento

Consigliato, siamo andati per sfuggite al caldo della città, e in effetti la sistemazione all’esterno si è rilevata perfetta, buona la cucina e il servizio conto in linea uniche pecche dono il parcheggio e la costruzione che alla luce del sole mostra un po troppi difetti e trascuratezza.
