Striking a place by chance and discovering a culinary treasure is one of the greatest joys of travel! Being Abruzzese myself, I was curious to taste their cuisine: every town and province has its own twist, and often the "taste of home" is a very personal experience. I was pleasantly surprised. Every dish was a celebration of authenticity, with flavors that evoked family Sundays. Yet, every bite was a discovery. The cod pasta wasn't familiar because it was enriched with nettles and pink peppercorns, and the slow-cooked mutton was prepared differently than I'd ever tasted, yet its deliciousness was undeniable. It was as if I had returned home, but with the sensation of traveling to another gastronomic dimension, where the same recipes came to life with a new and unexpected twist. This place reminded me that cuisine is a living language, changing and evolving depending on who speaks it, while still maintaining its roots. If you're looking for authentic flavors, but also want to be surprised, Antica Osteria ZAhrtmann is a must-visit. Not only do you eat well here, but you'll have an experience that makes you feel at home, even when you're not at home.
