Passing by, since we'd never been to Valvasone before and it was already 1:10 PM, we parked in the castle square and noticed a small group of about ten people with drinks in hand, so we approached and, seeing as the place is also a restaurant, we went in and, given the hour, asked if we still had time, and they seated us without any problem. The menu was presented on the blackboard, and we chose the toc in braida with musetto (a type of pork shoulder) and two plates of lamb ribs, one with baked potatoes and the other with grilled vegetables. The toc in braida is special because the musetto has replaced the cheese, the soft polenta, strictly yellow, slightly less salty, perfect with the musetto, which is more flavorful, and the whole thing dusted with morchia (cornmeal sautéed in butter). A truly excellent dish!! Then the ribs (4 per person) were well-cooked and tender, the grilled vegetables were much appreciated, and the baked potatoes were usually good. All this with a glass of a good Sauvignon from Pitars, which they forgot to add to the bill. The young man who served us then gave us excellent tips for visiting the village, and since we were the last customers, he even showed us the vaulted room below the restaurant. The restaurant has an old-fashioned style, given the house it's in and the village itself. It's charming, but the only problem is for those with mobility issues, as there are steps, even to the restroom.
