We occasionally had lunch with three of us, in a simple environment typical of historic taverns. Friendly staff and attentive to requests. Excellent food suited to the context and carefully presented dishes. Good wine cellar. Even though we hadn't tasted every single dish, we exchanged the three courses of first and second courses with real enjoyment! We will definitely be back. Well done!

We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday evening, but the owner welcomed us with great kindness and availability, finding us a place despite the crowd. The service was impeccable, but it was the food that won us over: the horse stew with polenta was simply divine, tender and full of flavour, while the Mantua risotto was perfect, creamy and balanced. An authentic and warm experience, highly recommended for those seeking traditional Mantuan cuisine and sincere hospitality. We will definitely be back!”

Rather small place, very good dishes; I liked the tortelli while I liked the pilot rice less. Absolute reservation required. Restaurant worth visiting again.

Let's start by saying that finding a place is not easy, so if you are passing through Mantua, organize yourself in advance. The environment is very simple but warm and refined, like a tavern with paper placemats on wooden tables. The dishes are truly delicious and plentiful. Here we see that tradition is not just an excuse to attract tourists but the true source of inspiration for the cuisine. Worth mentioning are the pumpkin tortelli with butter and sage, the boiled meat with its sauces and the gnocchi with porcini mushrooms and taleggio fondue. Wine list, not only with local wines, more than adequate with some gems. Courteous service.

Fantastic intimate tavern, few tables, interesting and delicious menu. Abundant dishes, we couldn't get to dessert 😊. Normal prices, adequate for the quality of the product. My daughter still carries bigoli, bacon, pecorino and balsamic vinegar in her heart. Book early!!

27/01/2025: Always good dishes and super abundant, now a guarantee. Super honest prices given the quantities. This makes me reflect on those places that often have much lower quality/quantity and higher prices. Highly recommended.
14/01/2025: Interesting place full of objects that are on furniture and shelves attached to the walls or hanging from the ceiling. The food was plentiful and excellent. The only shame was that the cheese on my starter was melted on the sides but was cold in the center from the fridge. Some inattention from the staff but I understand given that the Epiphany weekend is always full.

19/01/2025: The pilot rice with ribs served at the same time is very good. To eat together with rice. The managers are friendly and easy to chat with.
13/01/2025: Classico ristorante della tradizione mantovana. Locale arredato in modo classico, un po’ datato ma pulito e ordinato. Piatti squisiti, riso alla pilota con le costine da urlo, e servizio impeccabile e professionale. Tornerò per provare i bigoli con le sarde, uno dei piatti della tradizione di Castel d’Ario. Consigliato.
