We tried the traditional cured meats, tortelli, bigoli, and the ever-present sbrisolona at this traditional and welcoming osteria. The service was good. We highly recommend it!

Delicious dinner! I chose a charcuterie board with fried gnocco and a pasta dish filled with parmesan cream. The gnocco was fried to perfection: crispy, light, and not very greasy! Truly excellent value for money, I absolutely recommend stopping by this osteria.

Antica Osteria ai Ranari opens for lunch and then for dinner at 7:30 pm. It is a rustic restaurant that offers regional dishes including pumpkin tortelli, braised horse meat, fried gnocco, stew, bigoli, and riso alla pilota. But there are also meat and fish menus, and for those who love pizza, there is something for everyone here. What I can guarantee you is that the food here is very good, with generous portions, brought to the table by the staff who, as always, are very courteous, with fast and satisfying service at the same time. In a warm place just a stone's throw from the city center.

A historic restaurant; try the pumpkin tortelli, generous in both quality and quantity. The gnocco fritto with cured meats is delicious, as is the cod with polenta. The bill is unsurprising.

We read about Osteria dei Ranari in the Guide, and immediately got in the car, intent on trying their historic cuisine. Arriving in Mantua on a freezing, snowy day, we were greeted by the warmth of the grandmother's floorboards and the old wooden tables. The dishes are like a warm embrace, a cuddle, both the vegetarian options and the classic meat dishes. My companion ordered sweet pumpkin ravioli and the mixed boiled meats, while I ordered the pasta with toma, artichokes, and pumpkin, and a terracotta gratin with taleggio, onion, artichokes, and potatoes, finishing with a Belgian pudding. We washed it all down with an excellent Lambrusco recommended by the waitress. The service was discreet and excellent, and the lady in the kitchen was very kind to share the dessert recipe with us when it came to the bill and to chat with us cordially. We left again in the cold, but satisfied and refreshed. Thank you for everything!
