Micaela is so friendly and lively! And that alone would be enough to make you digest a dried bramble. If she then presents you with a 'ossocol' to applaud and a delicate chopped meat (and she gives you a hard time if you dare ask for butter...and she was right) in a warm and familiar environment, well... You go home with a smile and the desire to return. And I certainly will! Thanks for the wonderful, fun and tasty evening! All the best.

Not a very positive experience, few dishes presented verbally by the manager, which at times was a bit hasty. The decor denotes the character that the place had a few years ago, probably. However, the dishes are quite good and the prices are average.

Antica osteria nel cuore di Trieste, a due passi (veri, non quelli da maratoneta) dal Castello di San Giusto. Qui il tempo si è fermato: piatti tipici locali e un’atmosfera che sembra uscita direttamente da una cartolina d’epoca, senza ritocchi. Il servizio non è più come quello di una volta, ma comunque adeguato e formale. Attenzione però: i tavoli saranno sì e no sei, quindi se volete evitare di ammirarla solo dalla vetrina, prenotate con largo anticipo. Fidatevi, si riempie più in fretta di un buffet gratuito!

A chi vuol vivere una bella esperienza culinaria, come quella da noi provata, tocca addentrarsi nella città vecchia dalla Riva del Mandracchio e salire in forte pendenza fino al Colle di S. Giusto. Una passeggiata impegnativa, se fatta a piedi, ma che vale ogni suo sforzo per la qualità dei piatti che vengono proposti con garbo in questa osteria storica, apprezzata anche da James Joyce più di un secolo fa. A testimoniare dell’età di questo locale sono gli arredi, le fotografie e gli articoli di giornale alle pareti, una moltitudine di oggetti ad affollare le mensole, inframezzati da ceppi sui quali sono incise le date importanti per la città di Trieste. Squisito il Flan di asparagi e crema di Montasio, perfettamente accompagnato da miele e da confettura di pere il piatto di formaggi del Carso, realizzata a regola d’arte la Spalletta di maialino in crosta con senape di Digione e cren. Un perfetto finale si è rivelata la Crema Chantilly a farcire una delicatissima millefoglie. Apprezzabile la carta dei vini. Cordialità e professionalità della proprietaria. Buono il rapporto qualità-prezzo. Da consigliare certamente

I returned after 3 years and noticed that the quality remained intact! Informal atmosphere, menu recited verbally, but no negative surprises in the bill, very honest. Few dishes of excellent workmanship and quality, if you are looking for a place with typical Trieste cuisine, a little outside the classic circuits, this is the right place. Cozy and super characteristic location, attentive and helpful service. I will return, perhaps more frequently.
