Antica Hostaria da Libero In Trieste

I recently had dinner in this typical restaurant in Trieste, but I must say that the experience did not live up to expectations. The food was average, without memorable dishes: the dishes were prepared correctly but without particular flavors that justified the prices, which I find decidedly too high for the quality offered. The service was mixed. The waitress was at times courteous and helpful, but in some moments she showed a rude attitude, hastily answering questions and making the customer feel a bit "excess". The most controversial aspect is the furnishings: the place is decorated in a bizarre way, with portraits and references clearly linked to a neo-fascist aesthetic, a detail that cannot go unnoticed and which left me very perplexed. This type of furnishing choice may be, for some, not only questionable but also decidedly out of place. Overall, it is not an experience that I would recommend, especially for those looking for authentic Trieste cuisine accompanied by a welcoming atmosphere.

Traditional food in an equally traditional place. Excellent service and food.

Abbiamo cenato questa settimana, posto sempre pieno (ha pochi coperti), è necessario prenotare, il locale è un po' nascosto, gli ambienti sono pieni di arredi vecchio -antichi (anche troppo per i miei gusti), nel menu la scelta è limitata ma tutto, e dico tutto, veramente buono, menzione d'onore per i tortelli di zucca in crema al tartufo e speck croccante e per la mousse di castagne con salsa di cachi, piatti strepitosi. Da ritornare sicuramente.

Folks seem to like this restaurant- but if you are vegetarian, we didn’t find that as expansive as the website suggested. So the pumpkin flan in Gorgonzola and the pumpkin tortellini in Gorgonzola, was indeed vegetarian. But it was mostly the same flavor profile. Not being able to do the gnocchi in a marina sauce seemed difficult to imagine. Also, noticed this artwork which I have posted. I am not thin skinned (took my kids to see the camps in Poland) but this seemed out of place.

The food fully met everyone's expectations, the menu is not excessively extensive but in a group of 8 we all left satisfied. With a starter, a first or second course each, wine and dessert we spent a total of €24 per person. If pumpkin stuffed tortelli were a regular item on the menu I would eat them every day.

Small restaurant near the San Giusto cathedral. Very small place but just the same typical. Very good tortelli, as well Homemade tiramisu. A little hidden in a little busy street, in fact it is not very popular.
