The food is always excellent, but the restaurant's history sometimes weighs on the decor and management. Competition is fierce, and you can't stay stuck in the '70s. The service is '70s, but everything is excellent.

Antica Focacceria San Francesco, a historic restaurant recognized as a Slow Food Presidium, was an overall very positive experience. The atmosphere is authentic, timeless, almost suspended in time: upon entering, you can feel the history of Palermo, amidst traditional furnishings and details that reflect a significant gastronomic culture. The quality of the food is unquestionable, with authentic flavors and dishes that respect Sicilian tradition. It's one of those places where you go for the experience, not just the food. The staff may seem a little serious and unhelpful at times, but that doesn't detract from the professionalism of the service. Overall, I would modestly recommend it to anyone who wants to savor an authentic slice of Palermo's history and cuisine.

We returned after a few years and were deeply disappointed.

Excellent food. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. It doesn't reach 5 stars due to the lack of many ingredients, which makes the daily specials table practically useless. And we didn't arrive late.

A historic and very popular restaurant in the center of Palermo (popular with both locals and tourists). It offers self-service on the ground floor and restaurant service upstairs. Traditional Sicilian cuisine with bold flavors (pane e panelle, meusa, cazzilli, and arancini) and affordable, more than fair prices.
