Excellent food, historic setting, very helpful staff.
Unfortunately, the wait was excessive. From ordering, we waited over an hour for our first course.
Furthermore, we weren't warned that the "tasting" platter was missing the Fassona steak because it was sold out.
However, they managed to make up for it by offering us an unsolicited discount.
Well done.

I went to this restaurant with my sister on Sunday, February 8th. When we arrived at Casale, we were immediately struck by the small but very characteristic place. We decided to book for lunch. The owner told us that there were two sittings and that there was only room for the second one, from 1:45 PM to 3 PM. We decided to book and took a tour of Casale. At 1:20 PM, we were contacted by the owner who let us know that the table was free if we wanted. When we arrived, we were in for a pleasant surprise... the table was shared with other customers. We basically had a small round table: one half reserved for us, the other for two other ladies. Having no other choice, we accepted this arrangement. The very simple menu consisted of a choice between two first courses: agnolotti with ragù or fondue, a tasting plate (flan or capunet, Russian salad, veal with tuna and Fassona steak), and then desserts (mainly coffee or zabaglione with krumiri). As soon as they brought us the menu, we were told the fondue ravioli were out of stock. After a very long time, our orders were taken, and when we asked for the tasting plate, we were told the capunet were out of stock. All the tasting plates around us had them, and I'm sure they hadn't been chosen, but had been brought automatically. Honestly, I find this an unfair policy: what if I was allergic to peppers or didn't like them?
Added to this, the tables were really too close together, making it difficult to get up for service.
On a positive note, the food: everything was delicious and of high quality.
In short, top food, flop service.

I had lunch at this restaurant and had a pleasant experience. The menu isn't very extensive, and as the dishes are served, you have to make do with what's still available. For dessert, however, I recommend the Krumiri accompanied by a delicious zabaglione—truly delicious.

A former grocery store converted into a café. Their krumiri, a traditional biscuit from Casale Monferrato, are highly touted. Friendly staff.

A welcoming place in the city center. Friendly staff, limited but quality selection, and excellent biscuits. We'll be back.
