05/01/2026: Impressive location, very very good food, fast service, kind and attentive waiters... I highly recommend it
31/12/2025: We ate there on the first night of our stay in Matera, recommended by a couple of people. The prices were average for a restaurant—it's not a trattoria—and we spent €110 for two. There was a bit of a mix-up with our table, as the one assigned to us was already taken, but they quickly found an alternative. We ordered two appetizers, two first courses, dried solcetti, wine, and a passito.
The traditional peppers were truly delicious and unique; we didn't particularly like the pumpkin parmigiana; it tasted strongly of fried egg, which completely covered the flavor of the pumpkin. The two first courses were fantastic: orecchiette with turnip tops, anchovies, breadcrumbs, and crumbled peppers, and the strascinati with a cream of cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and chestnuts—a unique delight.
We were disappointed that there were no house sweets or bitters, only biscuits or dry sweets and Amaro Lucano. All in all it was a great experience and I would gladly go back, perhaps to try the pizza.
