A'Matticana In Riposto

A little corner outside the tourist masses with the best granita in the whole area. Try it to believe it!

Small bar unknown to the masses, hidden in a street next to the fish market in Riposto. Granitas for true connoisseurs. Enjoyed the fig one. True seasonal delicacy.

The best granita in the WORLD.....

Both the coffee and the pistachio ice cream were excellent, but the service and overall waiting tested our patience. Every second Slovak would have already left. After a few days, we found out that it's pretty much everywhere. They just have time 😉

Going down to Sicily (province of Catania) and not going to Riposto to eat the granita from Carmelo's A' Matticana is like going to Rome and not visiting St. Peter's. My favorite granitas are the fruit ones (strictly seasonal). You taste cantaloupe and have the sensation of eating melon. The same goes for all the other fruit ones. Try the mango, peach, fig and mulberry ones.

Behind the fish market, in a small corner of the Ripostese village, in a familiar atmosphere there is the "A Matticana" bar. An artisanal bar expertly managed by Carmelo & Co. The granitas are the best in the area. Performed with skill and where you "really" feel what you eat. The lemon, mandarin and mulberry ones are among my favourites. The place has a large atmosphere where tables and chairs are in the shade of large umbrellas that bring coolness in these scorching days. Clean and well looked after, Gaia immediately makes you feel at home, with her manners and her smile. What to say! 5 stars are too few. To find such well-managed places again.

Die Granite sind die Besten, die ich bisher gegessen habe. In dieser kleinen Bar haben wir täglich unseren Tag begonnen. Man sitzt dort so schön, die Bedienung ist sehr nett und die Preise absolut gerechtfertigt. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Urlaub, wenn wir wieder dort frühstücken können.
