Amadeus In Battipaglia

The only restaurant open on the evening of December 26th, we were coming from a long trip. The atmosphere is really nice, decorated with memorabilia from the '80s. The staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent. I ordered the cod, which is a real obsession for me, but they mainly serve spaghetti in many different ways, as well as sandwiches and other delicacies. I recommend it. It's also very affordable.

Nothing special. It's a spaghetti restaurant, with two pages of spaghetti, TWO PAGES, and five main courses and a page of sandwiches. I think it's unacceptable to offer so many first courses. I understand that you only offer that type of pasta, but two pages is a bit too much. The waiter had some rather sad jokes, always the same old refrain: "He'll pay anyway," "and this has to be paid for"... One is fine, two is fine, but the third is not. We had to ask for bread, and they brought us a basket with three slices, and I have a very strong suspicion that it was the basket they had removed from another table shortly before, since he had cleared a table shortly before and I hadn't finished asking for it, that he grabbed it from behind the door and brought it to me with yet another unfortunate joke. The cacio e pepe was delicious, but the one with sausage, porchetta, and mushrooms left much to be desired. The sauce didn't match the pasta, and I had to find the mushrooms. The fritters were also good, but there were 10 of them, too bad they were the size of coconut popsicles. A very positive note, which not all restaurants do, was that we ordered two glasses of wine and a bottle of water. The glasses of wine were GREAT GLASSES OF WINE; we didn't even open the bottle of water, and he took it off our bill without a word. The tiramisu they made was very good, but I would have preferred it to be larger. Given the small room, the air conditioning was hitting me right on the table. I pointed this out to him, and after seeing that he couldn't move the flaps, he moved us to another table. Bottom line? I honestly wouldn't go back. I wasn't crazy about my spaghetti. My mistake for ordering it, their mistake for putting it on the menu. Well, that was my experience. I don't feel like giving this restaurant more than this. I think the menu needs to be revisited, as well as the service.
