Modern large size clean rooms with high ceilings and comfortable beds (although I recommend box spring beds for optimal comfort). Staff members are friendly and helpful. Breakfast offers several options such as yoghurt, eggs, bread, cake, fruits, juice, coffee/tea but could be improved in terms of choice (e.g. different types of bread, bio eggs and local marmalades, salmon, granola. Pool in the garden offers a nice relaxation and refreshment area. Oldtimer cars can be admired on availability of the owner.

I visited the hotel's family's splendid car collection. The reception was lovely, and I had an aperitif in the garden, with excellent service.

Extremely unwelcoming, clean and charming, but very cold surroundings and poorly trained staff (except for Ms. Carmela, who was extremely kind and professional). Very basic spa with no relaxation area. Everything very basic. Breakfast was sparse, always the same. The concierge was sullen and unfriendly. I would never return.

I stayed at the Hotel Alter in Barge and had a wonderful experience in every way. The property is well-maintained and welcoming, the rooms clean and comfortable, with all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay. The garden is also beautiful, ideal for relaxing in peace. The staff is friendly and helpful. During my stay, I truly felt at home. The value for money is also excellent: it's hard to find better in the area. Highly recommended!

Comfortable and clean room with a terrace. It overlooks the hotel garden. The air conditioning is very noisy, so at night we had to turn it off and sleep with the terrace door open. The reception staff were a bit unfriendly.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, seeking relaxation in a small village that's certainly not a busy one, yet offers a wonderful atmosphere. We were greeted by a very cheerful and attentive young lady, always ready to accommodate our every need. It was a shame, however, that the young man at the evening reception desk seemed unprepared and rather listless. Despite this, the stay was pleasant and deserves four stars for the relaxation we found. As we're vegetarians, the chef prepared special dishes for us with vegetables and plant-based proteins, accompanied by fresh bread: a truly excellent dinner! The pool is truly enchanting: access is subject to a fee (€20 per person for the whole day, including a towel and slippers), but it's absolutely worth it. A few details could be improved, however: the cleanliness isn't always impeccable, with a few cobwebs here and there. The gym area, though small, is very nice, but upon our arrival, we found everything turned off despite having been assured that the lights and equipment would be ready. Small things, sure, but in a 4-star hotel they make a difference and are part of the attention ("pampering") you expect. Overall, a positive experience that I recommend to everyone. With a little more attention, it could easily deserve an even higher rating.

A beautiful little hotel with impeccable service! The team led by Angelo, Alessia, and Matteo is fantastic. With such a peaceful garden and pool, you're in your own holiday home. It's perfect for relaxing. We'll be back soon! Thanks to the owner for the guided tour of his car museum. I love the Lancia Flaminia, built by Touring Coachworks in Milan, which is in mint condition.

Warm welcome, lovely, attentive and always available staff, beautiful and comfortable rooms, a stunning pool, and a delicious restaurant. The building is magnificent—a former factory completely restored and transformed into a hotel! And the icing on the cake, an exceptional collection of vintage cars that alone is worth the visit.
