One of the best sandwiches in Florence. An unforgettable experience for these hearty and original sandwiches with an inimitable taste. You sometimes have to face a quest lasting several minutes (or even hours) during rush hours (12 p.m.-2 p.m.). To try it is to adopt it. Absolutely worth trying during a stay in Florence. (Please note there are few seats inside, plan to have lunch outside on a sunny day)

There are mostly pork-based options, but there are few options for those who do not eat pork. We preferred the sandwich called “la wild”.
The bread was a little dry, other than that we liked it

Bustling sandwich shop with lots of tasty options (meat and vegetarian)! Very big sandwiches with nice firm bread texture. A little bit of a line but ordering and service was fast and efficient.

Good raw materials, excellent service, of course don't think that there is no queue, its fame is now worldwide, mind how it smokes it will make you wait at least an hour, unless you go elsewhere...

I came out after seeing the Uffizi, and there was a huge line, so I looked for it and stood in line. Everyone took one and ate it, and it looked delicious. The line is long, but it goes quickly, and there are so many people that it's hectic.
The focaccia bread was very crispy and I liked it!! Personally, it was excellent. If you don't like hard things, it may not be for you.
After thinking about it for a while because there were so many menu items, I ordered numero 5 and Italian.
Number 5
It's almost boiled pork! It's full of pork. But the sauce was too greasyㅠㅠ… I was disappointed because I don't like the sauce.
Italy
It’s a basic style with raw ham + mozzarella + tomatoes! Also add basil sauce. There is a lot of ham, and it tastes good without getting too bitey.
But it’s really big!! We were hungry so we ordered one sandwich per person, but I think one would be enough if you want to taste it in moderation.
Two of them cost 24 euros. It's not cheap!

"Antico Vinaio" is now a recognizable name not only in Florence, but also in many other Italian cities and abroad. Born as a small historic shop in the heart of Florence, this place has been able to transform itself into a real brand, a symbol of the Tuscan gastronomic tradition, in particular with regards to "schiacciate" (stuffed Tuscan bread) and local cured meats.
Its success is based on a combination of authenticity, quality of ingredients and an informal atmosphere that recalls a banquet with friends. The "Antico Vinaio" has been able to maintain a link with tradition while evolving into a brand that has become an essential destination for those visiting Florence.
In addition to the quality of the food, the venue's ability to create a unique experience is part of its appeal. The speed in serving, the energy that can be felt in the restaurant, and the "rustic and genuine" approach to food make it an ideal place to savor Tuscan cuisine in an informal but satisfying way.
With the expansion nationally and internationally, "Antico Vinaio" has been able to maintain its identity, but it is clear that it has had to deal with the growing demand, also leading to some discussion on the quality and experience that may differ from one store to another. Despite this, the strength of the brand lies in its connection with its Tuscan roots and in its ability to adapt to the needs of the modern public, without giving up tradition.
Ultimately, "Antico Vinaio" is more than just a place: it has become a sort of gastronomic phenomenon, representing a bridge between typical Florentine cuisine and an increasingly large audience, hungry for authenticity and quality.

"I HAVE to eat here once, before we leave the country," he said. "We can't NOT try a sandwich," he said. "If I don't get to stop here, I might cry," he said.
So of course, we stood in line on a hot August afternoon for a chance to try one of their famous sandwiches. Thing is (and this seems to be a theme for all my Italy reviews) I wasn't all that hungry. But he was insistent, and so we compromised: he'd choose the sandwich, and we'd share it, because I knew I wouldn't be able to put down one on my own.
The line moved relatively quickly but broke down once we actually made it to the counter. There was no sense to who went where to order when, so the impatient people behind us felt like they could step ahead of the group in front of them - and us - to order before anybody else, and there was nobody to tell them to stop behaving like jerks and get back in line.
Despite that, we were able to get our order placed: he chose the Paradise (€11), which was topped with pistachio cream, mortadella, stracciatella and pistachio chunks. We also grabbed a couple of fizzy drinks (€4 each) before grabbing a fistful of napkins and heading out the door.
There is no good spot to post up to eat in the area, and there was a lot of construction going on when we were there. We found a small piece of sidewalk close by and were able to hunker down with the coveted sandwich, which gave us a chance to pass it back and forth and comment on the flavor.
It was, thankfully, quite tasty. It also wasn't as big as I thought it would be, but that didn't really matter to me, as I only had a handful of bites before I tapped. The sandwich was put together well, and it was positively swimming in the pistachio cream sauce. The mortadella had a good, subtle meaty flavor that paired surprisingly well with the nuts, the sauce and the cheese (and hey, as much as I love pistachios, I don't necessarily think you need to put it on or in every food item in the country.)
It got to the point where we were almost dancing a jig anytime we took a bite, as we would have to dance our feet out of the way of dripping sauces. Unfortunately for the neighborhood, it seemed like every other patron ate around the same area and suffered the same sauce overflow as we did. The pigeons loved it, though. The trash cans, which were full to overflowing themselves - were the spot of the day for every pigeon in a five-mile radius.
