Excellent grill restaurant in the beautiful center of Cisternino, just steps from the panoramic viewpoint. They welcomed us and found us a table even without a reservation, even after waiting a bit in line. We sat down in these cozy, traditional rooms with wooden benches and tables, and from there, this truly satisfying culinary experience began! Everything was delicious, from the appetizers to the meat (the sausage melts in your mouth, I've never tasted so good!), and then the bombette, sliced potatoes... all accompanied by local wines and the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, who, even if busy, were always friendly and gave us careful advice. In short, go there!!!!

Excellent meat restaurant, very typical of Puglia. You must first select the meat from the display and then sit down. There is a lot of choice and everything is excellent. We went there twice in 4 days because we were won over and the value for money is unbeatable!

A wide selection of meats, all of excellent quality. The quality/price ratio is fair in my opinion.
I highly recommend the spicy bombettes. They contain cheese that takes the heat down a notch, along with perfectly cooked diaphragm and livers; just thinking about them makes my mouth water. Recommended.

Wonderful meal in a traditional Fornello in Cisternino.
Food and wine were excellent and the experience of choosing your meat from the 'butchers counter' was quite unique.
We were fortunate to get there early as the place filled up very quickly and people were queueing waiting for a table - and I can understand why.
Would definitely recommend a meal at Al Vecchio Fornello.

We've been to this place several times, but last night, I think, is the last! The prices are sky-high now, the quality of the meat is good, but not worth spending this much! 3 euros for a cover charge, if you can call it a cover charge, 75 euros for a slice of meat weighing less than 1kg, and 152 euros for a sausage and a bombetta! They're crazy, they think they're selling gold!
