Soooo delicious. A chef who cooks with love and dedication. The service is very friendly and attentive. And affordable too. A must-try if you're in the area. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Great food and family atmosphere

Hidden away in the tiny hamlet of Stropino. The restaurant's unusual name derives from local umbrella makers' slang, apparently. The quirkiness doesn't stop there. No written menu, Basil Fawlty-type "welcome." We were the only non-locals there, and glances from the regulars were initially suspicious, hostile even. We hadn't booked and had to wait on the naughty step. But if you can get past all that - and try to speak some Italian - then this is an authentic and very enjoyable dining experience: excellent value, good-quality wine by the carafe, everything home-made and local. And everyone was friendly by the time we left! Light years away from the tourist traps on the Borromean islands.
