Al Panigaccio In Compiano

We dined at Al Panigaccio in Compiano on Saturday, October 4th, after the last visit to the Castle. The small restaurant opens at 7:30 PM, but after a quick tour of the village, we were welcomed into the warm atmosphere half an hour before the official opening (given the terrible weather outside!): time for an aperitif, a chat, and watching the testi (the earthenware pots in which the panigacci are cooked in front of you) being heated. A great experience that we recommend, also for the kindness of the owners! You can try panigacci made with local products, as well as pasta dishes and grilled meats. All accompanied by excellent wine, in a truly charming location. Open for lunch and dinner, and in good weather, you can eat outside for lunch. Parking is not available under the castle, but it is about a 5-minute walk away, outside the village.

We only had dinner and didn't stay overnight. The kitchen is open to the public. We ordered and enjoyed vegetable soup, herb tortelli, and finally panigacci with cheese. The atmosphere is informal and pleasant. Good value for money.

The friendliness and excellent welcome are unsurpassed! The products were excellent, the panigacci were delicious, but everything was delicious! We'll definitely be back!

Tried it today for lunch. The location was beautiful, with a view of the mountains and seating practically in the castle. Fast service and helpful staff. We enjoyed excellent boiled panigacci topped with the typical Lunigiana pesto, followed by fresh, well-cooked grilled vegetables. The Florentine steak, grilled right in front of us, was excellent.

The location is fabulous... It's located inside the historic Compiano Castle. From the tables on the castle ramparts, the view of the valley is beautiful (especially at sunset). The restaurant's menu features many traditional local dishes, particularly the one from which it takes its name: panigaccio. It's a type of round, flat bread, fried and served with cured meats or boiled with various sauces. The price, given the location, is very reasonable.

An Enchanting Lunch at Panigaccio in Compiano: Views, Flavors, and Value! We had the pleasure of lunch at the Panigaccio restaurant, located in the historic castle of the ancient village of Compiano, and the experience was simply memorable. The location is breathtaking: sitting on a terrace on the castle walls, we enjoyed a wonderful view of the Taro Valley, refreshed by a delightful breeze that created the perfect atmosphere, unlike the heat of the villages below. The menu delighted us with local specialties and authentic flavors. We started with the Ligurian chiodini (a kind of pork shoulder), followed by fragrant fried polenta accompanied by delicious cured meats and the ever-present panigacci (a kind of bread). We also enjoyed classic French fries and an exceptional first course: trofie with pesto, croissants, and potatoes, a true triumph of flavors. To finish on a sweet note, a refreshing and delicious gelato affogato al caffè (a coffee-filled ice cream), all washed down with an excellent wine. Each dish was beautifully cooked, a sign of great attention to detail and craftsmanship. The service was impeccable and prompt, helping make our meal even more enjoyable. We felt pampered, and the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere made our stay truly comfortable. Another strong point was the value for money: despite the excellent quality of the food, the service, and the exclusive location, we paid relatively little. It was an experience that exceeded our expectations in every way. In short, Panigaccio al Castello di Compiano is a place I highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic culinary experience, a spectacular view, and impeccable service, all at a truly fair price. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return!

What do you do on a sunny Sunday in Reggio in June? Looking for coolness... And where?.... In the mountains!!! Ok, ready, set, go! We're off to Compiano Castle. Yes... ok... but have you thought about where to have lunch? Ah, you'll see that something will pop up up there!! So said and done, at the foot of the Castle we find the bar restaurant ''Al Panigaccio''. An outdoor area from which you can admire the walls and the village, inside going up one floor, there are two large rooms that overlook a breathtaking panorama that dominates the valley. You will find smiling, polite and fast staff to welcome you but, a special mention goes to the owner called ''Diavolo Tentatore'', don't worry the nickname can be misleading, he is a very hospitable person, kind and well disposed towards the customers. A perfect Host. The food is excellent, for 2 of us we spent 45 euros consuming a Greek salad, grilled vegetables, 2 portions of chips, a portion of Panigaccio alla carbonara, 1 bottle of water, 1 coffee and 1 panna cotta. Generous dishes. Highly recommended!!! Thanks for the welcome🫴🏻💚
