Al Panigaccio In Compiano

A place with a relaxing atmosphere... nestled in Compiano Castle. The food is extraordinary. Our favorite dish is always "il chiodi."

The location is fabulous... It's located inside the historic Compiano Castle. From the tables on the castle terraces, the view of the valley is beautiful (especially at sunset). The restaurant's menu features many traditional local dishes, particularly the one from which it takes its name: panigaccio. It's a type of round, flat bread, fried and served with cured meats or boiled with various sauces. The price, especially considering the location, is very reasonable.

For me, you eat well at Panigaccio.

We dined at Al Panigaccio in Compiano on Saturday, October 4th, after the last visit to the Castle. The small restaurant opens at 7:30 PM, but after a quick tour of the village, we were welcomed into the warm atmosphere half an hour before the official opening (given the terrible weather outside!): time for an aperitif, a chat, and watching the testi (the earthenware pots in which the panigacci are cooked in front of you) being heated. A great experience that we recommend, also for the kindness of the owners! You can try panigacci made with local products, as well as pasta dishes and grilled meats. All accompanied by excellent wine, in a truly charming location. Open for lunch and dinner, and in good weather, you can eat outside for lunch. Parking is not available under the castle, but it is about a 5-minute walk away, outside the village.
