About a 5 minute walk from Vatican City in a quieter neighborhood, Al Giardino Del Gatto E La Volpe provided an amazing experience comprised of a warm atmosphere, fantastic service, and delicious food. We had a late meal in the middle of the week and were seated in the interior courtyard area, which is adequately lined with fans to help with the heat. We loved the mussels and the mushroom pasta, along with a full bottle of their house wine. The lamb chops came out fried, which was also a pleasant surprise. The tiramisu was also delicious! During our visit, we asked about the name of the place and received a full tour of the illustrations that reside throughout the restaurant too! Overall, would highly recommend dining here for a well priced, quality and service forward meal that provides an escape from the intensity of Rome travel.

Ristorante incantevole con un giardino interno silenzioso, spazioso e arieggiato. Siamo stati accolti con cortesia e abbiamo avuto un trattamento attento e presente, soprattutto da parte del Sig. Mauro. Abbiamo assaggiato i fritti e la pizza. Pietanze fresche e bene preparate; fritti gustosi e leggeri; pizza romana sottile e croccante. Assolutamente da consigliare.

Sono stato per la prima volta in questo ristorante e scelto perché pernottato vicino al tribunale penale piazzale Clodio. Cucina tipica Romana eccellentemente preparata. Infine ottimo digestivo. Da tornare per altri assaggi.

11/07/2025: Stopped on our way back from Santa Maria Maggiore/near the Opera House based on reviews and enjoyed a nice family dinner. Very allergy friendly menu with large pasta portions that were very reasonably priced as well as a nice wine by the bottle list. The outside patio was a treat with this cooler night and temps EXCEPT for the sidewalk sale pushers. Vattani is going to be one of your best options in the neighborhood for a classic Italian meal but Google reviews are a little inflated based on our experience…3 pastas plus shared antipasti and dessert with a bottle of wine for just under 200 euro. Lucio was friendly, attentive and made great recommendations-all the staff were professional and courteous. We loved the Caprese and focaccia, and lasagna; the amatriciana was a little heavy on tomato sauce and light on the cheese…not one of the best we’ve had during our time here in Italy but so many interpretations just in this city alone.
