Fantastic little place , the staff is lovely , good red wine and the food is great . We sampled the pizza and the pasta and came back a few times more .

This restaurant was recommended by our friend's mason, and it was fantastic. Easily he best meal we had on this one week trip to Tuscany. The server (owner?) Sara, was attentive and her English was so fluent that our inability to speak Italian was not a barrier at all. For primi, we had pici with mixed seafood, eggplant parmesan, and potato soup. For secondi, we had pasta with clams, octopus, and a platter of mixed cuts of pork, including a sausage made by Sara's father. Each dish was arranged beautifully, as well.

Excellent for both lunch and dinner (pizzas are only available at dinner). I've been coming here with family and friends for a while now, and we're never disappointed. The name "Castello" comes from its proximity to Montemassi Castle, just a short walk up the hill.

The atmosphere is welcoming and charming. Its proximity to the castle is ideal for a stroll. The first courses were excellent, as was the meat. The one I had, Angus ribs, was excessively fatty (like 1/4 meat, 3/4 fat). They say the fish is very good. I'll try it next time.
