This place was recommended by our host. We had a gricia and a beef tagliata, and each was better than the last. Honorable mention for the kindness of the owners as well as the delicious food. We think they deserve a full 5 stars. If we return to Rocca di Papa, we know where to eat again.

I'm sorry to post only the carafe of wine as a photo, but by the time I remembered I'd written a review, we'd EATEN EVERYTHING! 🤣 A fantastic place, where you'll find true Rocchigiano hospitality, the tradition and warmth of an old-school osteria, where people have gathered for a long, long time to drink, eat, and socialize. My grandmother was from Rocca, and I myself spent long summer holidays there, as well as weekends with friends. We no longer have the house, but I still go there very often because a piece of my heart is there. Despite this, I had never visited Cantinone. Maybe because when I went up there, I ate grandma's delicacies! But not only did Cantinone not disappoint me, it made us (both me and my friend) truly happy. Handmade fettuccine alla Castellana (nice and thick), amazing grilled meats, excellent side dishes and cheeses, fine wine, homemade desserts... We didn't miss a thing. We'll definitely be back; I have another essential stop for when I go to Rocca di Papa. If you go, make a reservation, as the osteria is tiny. Highly recommended.

We had a table of 13. The place was really cute, warm, and welcoming. The meat is cooked in a special fireplace in front of the tables, and the staff is welcoming, efficient, and quite slick and honest, but always polite. The service is fast; in fact, we waited very little for our dishes. The menu offers a wide selection of pizzas, pasta dishes, and meats. The beef steak, carbonara, and pizza (our dishes) were exceptional: the best carbonara I've ever had. The fried foods were also excellent. The price is really fair, and for what you get, it's excellent. Highly recommended. If we ever return to Rocca di Papa, I think we'll gladly return.

A rustic, warm, and welcoming restaurant. Excellent first and second courses, reasonable prices, and quick, courteous service. Recommended.

Di passaggio verso il Sud, ci siamo fermati in un B&B delle vicinanze e, da qui, abbiamo cercato una trattoria dove cenare. Domenica sera, ai castelli, è un po' difficile perchè a pranzo c'è il pienone e la sera molti locali chiudono. Dopo attenta ricerca su Tripadivsor abbiamo scelto il Cantinone. Serata brutta e piovosa ma rischiarata dal cibo gustato in questa vecchia (e storica, immagino) trattoria tutta romana, dall'ambiente all'accoglienza, alle battute salaci, al cibo semplice ma buono. 2 belle carbonare, per non sbagliare, un po' di funghi freschi arrosto, una cicoria ripassata, 1/2 litro di vino e la vita ti appare sotto tutt'altra aspettativa. Un angolo autentico di accoglienza e sapori veri. Se cercate una trattoria dove sentirvi davvero a casa, Al Cantinone è il posto giusto. A rendere speciale questo locale non è solo la cucina, ma l’atmosfera familiare e professionale che si respira sin dal primo momento. Il servizio è impeccabile: gentilezza, disponibilità e attenzione ai dettagli fanno sentire ogni cliente benvenuto. Merito di Francesca, perfetta padrona di sala, garbata, paziente e sempre sorridente. In cucina troviamo Laura, che con simpatia e talento propone piatti gustosi, sempre realizzati con ingredienti freschi e di stagione. E poi c’è Leo, cuore pulsante della trattoria: cuoco, grigliatore, jolly multitasking e presenza rassicurante per tutti. Ogni piatto racconta una storia di tradizione e passione: dalla griglia alla pasta fresca, tutto è curato e prelibato. Una trattoria autentica, sincera, dove la qualità incontra l’umanità. Tornerò sicuramente.
