Chosen almost by chance for the excellent reviews, the restaurant in the historic center of Moncalieri offers only Sicilian specialties prepared with skill and carefully choosing the raw materials, almost all of which are of island origin. The result is truly excellent, as is the service and the friendliness of the owner, originally from Bagheria. The initial skepticism was overcome immediately, as soon as we tasted the hot mixed appetizer. The wine list is also very good. Obviously all Sicilian. Absolutely worth a visit

I recommend trying this restaurant, because the experience is very pleasant; the environment is well-kept and refined and the staff very kind and informal, the owner stopped to chat with our table more than once and wanted to offer us two small plates of classic caponata to try (there were 8 of us and we ordered the caponata with fish) and, towards the end of the meal, the zibibbo, leaving the bottle at the table. The welcoming Sicilian spirit hovers throughout the restaurant and puts you at ease!
Carefully prepared and well-presented dishes; we started with some samples of fried food and I found the arancini to be really well-made. To follow, I had spaghetti with clams, which were good even if slightly al dente. Others ordered the baked anellini and it must be said that they were good, but the portion was a bit small, also considering the price of the dish. Furthermore, in the classic caponata in my opinion you could taste too much of the vinegar, even if it depends on personal taste, since the others found it good.
The dessert for me was a mystical experience: I ordered a revisited panna cotta, with orange, chocolate chips and chopped pistachios, and it was absolutely fabulous, different from all the others I had eaten and the best dish of the whole lunch. The owner explained that they make it without gelatine and therefore it remains softer... absolutely to try! In addition, I had my little glass of zibibbo nearby and drinking it together with this dessert was a great idea, so much so that I recommended always serving the two things together... it seemed like that extra touch that completed the dish and that, fitting together like the last piece of a puzzle, made it from delicious to perfect and complete.
In conclusion, to improve I would review the quantity and/or prices of some dishes a little, but for the rest, keep going like this! I hope to return soon to also try the evening aperitif formula 🙂

We stopped by for an aperitif and found ourselves immersed in the authentic flavors of Sicily: a delicious selection of small, typical portions, all prepared with care and passion. The owner was extraordinarily kind, welcoming and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. Even though we didn't have dinner, it was enough for us to understand that we will be back soon... this time to taste the whole menu!

"A truly pleasant lunch at the restaurant! I ordered the starter of fish caponata, fresh and tasty, followed by a second course of tuna with poppy and sesame crust, simply delicious. To finish, a cannoli revisited with chocolate, a touch of creativity. But what really made the difference was the attention and care given to customers by the staff. Excellent choice, I will definitely return!"

In due occasioni dalla Toscana, siamo andati a Moncalieri e per entrambe le volte siamo stati “ospiti” di Loredana e Filippo dove fin dall’inizio siamo stati accolti in un bellissimo ambiente, con una cordialità non per niente scontata, abbiamo degustato ottimi piatti e eccellenti vini locali.
Ci torneremo obbligatoriamente. Consigliatissimo!!!
