Balestrari at Porta Pia is a must-try restaurant. The staff is courteous, friendly, and professional, and the atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming. Excellent dishes, perfectly prepared: superb carbonara, amatriciana, gricia, and cacio pepe, all delicious. The main courses, such as oxtail stew and saltimbocca, are also delicious. The tiramisu is incredible. We'll definitely be back.

Everything you could want from a restaurant in Rome and beyond. I wandered around Rome looking for a restaurant that reflected Roman cuisine, with authentic flavors and not tourist fare. I stumbled upon Ai Balestrari simply because it was a 1-minute walk from my hotel. Instead, it turned out to be the absolute best culinary experience in Rome, starting with the atmosphere, the impeccable and friendly service without being intrusive, and the incredibly affordable prices, especially considering the food... guys, this is serious! The quality here is truly rare to find these days. Typical Roman cuisine prepared to perfection: pizza, pasta, appetizers, main courses, fried foods... and I say this because once I discovered this place, I came here every day and practically tried the entire menu. Kudos to the staff and owner for creating, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Rome. A true delight! You can also tell by the fact that most of the clientele is Roman or Italian, not tourists. Be wary of negative reviews from tourists who don't understand and appreciate the bold flavors of authentic Italian and Roman cuisine.
