What a wonderful experience and what a warm welcome. We had the privilege of meeting Greg and Silvia and sharing a culinary experience with them, "experiencing" the beauty of learning to make homemade pasta (cavatelli and orecchiette) with a sauce we prepared in the kitchen, then enjoying it with an excellent sweet wine, olives, cheese, and strictly local cured meats. The owners' involvement was beyond friendly. We have so much beauty that deserves to be shared, known throughout Basilicata, Italy, and the world.

Greg and Silvia were excellent hosts when our family took a cooking class here on our way to Matera. They welcomed us with warmth and regional/agricultural knowledge. The meal was made with care, all with ingredients sourced from their property. We would definitely love to return and stay on site. Highly recommend for all ages and group sizes! A memorable experience on our trip.

An oasis of peace! I stayed at this agriturismo for three days and had a wonderful time. I found the kindness and warmth, almost friendship! The room, though small, was very cozy, the bed was very comfortable, and it was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious and authentic, and the homemade jams were divine! And dinner... a true delight. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the farm for 3 nights, we did not want to leave. We will miss seeing these wonderful people. They are the nicest people you can meet anywhere. Such wonderful host and wonderful location. The food that was served to us during our dinner was worth 4 times what they charged us. Traditional Italian food made with love. Delicious!. This was the best food we had on our 2 week trip. I have never met such beautiful and understanding people. We were traveling with our disabled son and they bent over backwards to accommodate him. Also recommend taking the Italian cooking class that is offered by the family, you won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I spent a weekend here. Beautiful views, away from the noise and just steps from the San Giuliano dam, ideal for those looking for a quiet getaway. Excellent location, close to tourist attractions like Matera and other Basilicata villages like Castelmezzano. You can also dine there; we did once and had a really good time. The owner was friendly and the dishes were traditionally prepared with passion. Excellent value for money for all the amenities. We were very satisfied.

I stayed at Agriturismo L'Assiolo and it was a truly wonderful experience. The property is located in the countryside, in a quiet and picturesque setting, overlooking the San Giuliano dam and about thirty minutes from Matera. This location makes it ideal for those wishing to visit the city of Sassi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as for those seeking moments of peace and nature away from the chaos of the city. Access is via a somewhat narrow road, about two and a half meters wide, but once past this small obstacle, you're greeted by a relaxing oasis surrounded by greenery. The surrounding landscape is rejuvenating, and the property immediately conveys a sense of tranquility and well-being. The rooms are clean, meticulously maintained, and very comfortable, designed to ensure a pleasant stay. The cuisine also deserves special mention: the dishes offered are authentic and prepared with high-quality local products, in full respect of tradition. Breakfast is plentiful and varied, with simple yet authentic flavors that ensure a perfect start to the day. One of the agriturismo's strong points is undoubtedly its large, well-maintained swimming pool, surrounded by greenery. It's accessible not only to guests but also to the general public, offering an additional opportunity to enjoy leisure and relaxation on hot days. Furthermore, on Sundays, guests can enjoy lunch at the agriturismo even if they're not staying, allowing everyone to appreciate the quality of the cuisine and the family atmosphere. The staff is always very kind, helpful, and attentive to guests' needs. The passion and dedication with which this business is run is clearly evident. I highly recommend Agriturismo L'Assiolo to anyone seeking an authentic experience, filled with nature, good food, and a sincere welcome.

Quiet place, friendly service and good food

A lovely, quiet place in the woods, with a lovely pool and welcoming rooms. The owner and her English partner are very kind and hospitable. It's a shame that despite having a lovely restaurant, they don't serve food.

We stayed 4 nights at this very quiet agriturismo. The pool is beautiful. We had dinner one evening and enjoyed a high-quality and very generous antipasti.
