Agli Archi Trattoria In Ragusa

The terrace here overlooks the main junction of all the lanes between Ragusa Ibla and Ragusa Superiore, and it’s fun watching people walking by and all the car drivers who aren’t sure whether to go left or right. The menu here is on a large blackboard and the owner reads patiently through the whole list. Unfortunately, we are not the most decisive of people and so had to get him to come back after we had discussed it all ourselves. The personal touch of ‘menu reading’ is endearing but we feel a back up of (even) a hand-written menu would be good. The food was excellent - as expected because it has a good reputation - but we found the service rather cool and more reserved than we would prefer. We had to ask for the wine menu. I admit we felt a bit awkward and didn’t linger for coffee afterwards. Funnily enough, the service in the ground-floor bar is excellent - all smiles and friendliness. We really do recommend the bar as a good resting place through the day.

Great pit stop between Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla after a long walk down the hill (or a great break before walking up).

A well-kept bar, just steps from the Church of the Holy Souls in Purgatory, which makes the location evocative. Excellent spritz, accompanied by appetizers, and friendly staff.

Una ottima trattoria poco fuori dal centro di Ibla. Proprietario gentilissimo ed attento alle esigenze dei clienti. Pietanze molto buone in ambiente informale.

Siamo stati fortunati perchè il ristorante aveva appena riaperto, dopo la chiusura stagionale. A cena siamo stati deliziati dalle pietanze cucinate dalla sig.ra Agata che ci ha onorato anche della sua presenza. E' la fantastica cucina siciliana rivista con alcuni tocchi di modernità e fondata sulle materie prime, che si trovano solamente in questa regione, che ci rende felici e completa la vacanza dei turisti di passaggio. Mi dispiace aver avuto la possibilità di cenare una sola volta in questo locale. Il posto merita davvero e soprattutto quando sarà un tempo più mite cenare o pranzare in terrazza davanti allo spettacolo di Ragusa Ibla rende il tutto meraviglioso. Lo consiglio.
