On day 2 of our unscripted motor tour from Naples to Florence via the Amalfi Coast, we again found ourself looking for a place to stay. We came across Tenuta Montelauro on Google maps. Having heard and read so much lately about agritourism, I was anxious to give it a try. My guess is that they don't get a lot of walk-in guests, so were probably a bit confused by our unannounced arrival and request for 2 rooms for the night. That confusion quickly faded and their hospitality and cordiality shined through. The entire facility seems nearly new. The rooms are large and comfortable. We had first floor room (one above ground level) that opened onto a large shared patio overlooking heavily forested grounds. This place specializes in their own dry-cured meats. You pick your cut of meat from the curing "closet". Servings are one kilo per couple. Even with the bone-in cuts, this is an ample serving. The table was set with a generous charcuterie board and a small side salad. The entire meal, including desert and 2 bottles of a very nice local wine came to a bit over €35 per person. Breakfast, included in the €70 fee per room was equally generous in size and every bit as delicious. We believe you cannot go wrong with this hotel. I rate it excellent in every regard.

As soon as we arrived the expectations were high. Beautiful and relaxing location but the food is not up to par at all, good starters but the first courses are overcooked and the sauces are not good, the meat is tough... it's a shame because the place deserves it.

In my opinion, the structure is very beautiful on the outside, the garden needs to be taken care of better, the interior needs to be improved. Good and well-presented food.

Totale 74€
