A' Taverna In Scalea

The owner is lovely, and her daughter is in the kitchen cooking. We absolutely loved the food. Just be aware that the portions are quite large. Excellent value for money.

This place is truly amazing! The food, service and the atmosphere are amazing! Over the years we have tried multiple times to dine here, only to find out that they were closed. I've dined here twice on this visit to Scalea. I will continue to check their Facebook page for opening hours.

If you want to spend an evening in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and enjoy time-honored traditional dishes that will delight your palate, you've come to the right place. The staff and chef won us over. In addition to the high score, they deserve a gold medal for their taste and the selection of fresh products every day, which isn't everyone's cup of tea these days.

Amazing authentic Italian "tratoria" hidden in the beautiful old streets of the old town of Scalea. Open only from 8pm, but they offered us drinks already at 7pm. Cozy seating, very nice service, excellent house wine, food made from local ingredients, choice of fresh pasta or meat, as a starter a rich plate with a tasting of local delicacies, all absolutely delicious. We had the opportunity to taste the specialty of this restaurant = fried dried peppers - a delicacy that can only be tasted here in winter. We definitely recommend visiting this breathtaking place if you appreciate homemade Italian cuisine and the peace and atmosphere of the old town ❤️

Wonderful gem in the heart of Centro Storico of Scalea. Typical Calabrese food served in an authentic place with beautiful decoration. I had just the spaghetti aglio e olio which was very tasty with the anchovy that is in the original recipe. My girlfriend had the gnocchi with pomodori. Again simple dish but oh so tasty! Very nice staff and food came out in a decent rate. If you want to have a cosy, simple but typical dish at a very good price, this is the place to be. In season the outside terrace is open which is beautifully illuminated and has a cosy atmosphere.

Dream location, but the food and service disappoint. The restaurant has a romantic and convivial atmosphere, perfectly integrated into the ancient village of Scalea. Be warned, however: you have to climb several steps to reach it. APPETIZER: Good and characteristic, with Tropea onions and 'nduja. FIRST COURSE: Decent, pasta too al dente. The parmesan we requested had a bad taste: old, dry, and obviously stale. MAIN COURSE: The pork was raw inside (especially in the thickest part), despite its inviting appearance. Since it was pork, I left about half of it out just to be safe. SERVICE: The waiter served us with obvious annoyance, almost as if he wanted to throw us out. Zero customer service. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, especially given the location. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for attention to detail, especially in service.

A typical Calabrian trattoria located in the old town of Scalea. A truly romantic setting, especially in the evening. Excellent dishes, definitely worth a try!

In giro per Scalea resto affascinata da questo ristorantino nella parte antica della città caratterizzato da lucette e tovaglie a quadretti. Cibo davvero molto buono, abbiamo assaggiato dei buon primi tra cui lagane e fagioli DELIZIOSI. Buon feedback anche dagli altri componenti del tavolo tra cui lo gnocchetto con la salsiccia altrettanto buono. Come secondo salsiccia calabrese tenerissima, buono anche il vino della casa. Una stella in meno solo a causa un po del servizio, un po lentini e due camerieri stranieri che non erano proprio preparatissimi sul menu ma per il resto tutti gentili. Ci ritornerei

Esperienza eccezzionale al di sopra delle aspettative , qualità eccellente della materia prima, la signora molto carina, consiglio il loro antipasto e la melanzana ripiena davvero buonissima!!! Per non parlare del posto davvero suggestivo, complimenti !! Ps non fatevi abbindolare dalle recensioni negative, sono inspiegabili.
