We took the pasta course with Greta and then ate on the beautiful terrace above the rooftops of Matino. An unforgettable experience. They serve excellent home-grown dishes, prepared with love. We spent a week in the heart of Salento, where tradition, family, and nature blend perfectly. The inn is managed and maintained by the entire family, where the new generations continue local traditions. The room was spacious, comfortable, and meticulously maintained. The terrace restaurant is truly magical. The traditional dishes are special, with an authentic flavor. The inn also offers orecchiette pasta and cheese-making classes and workshops. In the basement, there's a hot tub converted from an old water cistern. A place that stays in your heart... that gives you a moment of life that will remain forever etched in your memory. We decided to book a table at this trattoria-restaurant and found a wonderful surprise in terms of its architecture: a very unique venue, located in the heart of Matino's historic center, famous for its winding streets. The restaurant is also a B&B and is run with great courtesy: upon arrival, we were greeted by a very kind lady. Access is via a picturesque alley, and an elevator is available for those with children or mobility issues. The main dining room is on the first floor, reached by ancient stairs partly carved into the rock: it almost feels like walking through a living nativity scene. The setting is truly charming, furnished with antique utensils typical of Salento, and the view from the terrace is breathtaking: it overlooks the entire town, including the bell tower of the church of San Giorgio, the village's patron saint. The menu is extensive, featuring both meat and fish dishes, but above all, many traditional local dishes. It's the ideal place for those who want to savor authentic Salento cuisine. The staff is very helpful, ready to accommodate any request and offer advice; if they have any questions, they can immediately ask the kitchen. Their willingness to customize dishes, such as cooking or adding/removing ingredients, is also greatly appreciated. I absolutely recommend trying the house desserts, all artisanal and traditional. In conclusion: a truly quaint place, perhaps a little inconvenient to reach, but perfect if you want to combine a stroll through the historic center with an authentic culinary experience.

A great discovery! Typical Salento cuisine and atmosphere. I was on the terrace, but you can reserve a PRIVÈ (cover charge applies) with a view of the entire town. During the evening, some young people performed traditional music. They were great, as was the owner, who joined the band to sing typical Salento folk songs. Average prices, good food. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!

The terrace where you dine is spectacular, as are the food and portions. Everything was fantastic for a first evening in Matino, and the staff were super friendly. Highly recommended.
